Texas completes regular season sweep of Rice
AUSTIN (AP) -- Hunter Harris had an RBI-single in the bottom of the ninth to give Texas a 3-2 win over Rice on Tuesday.
Texas (36-4) got on the board in the sixth when Curtis Thigpen scored on a single by Taylor Teagarden. The Longhorns' second run came when Drew Stubbs scored on a bases-loaded walk.
The game was delayed for more than 20 minutes early in that inning when home plate umpire Ralph Minard was hit with a foul ball and taken by ambulance to the hospital.
Rice (27-7) got a run on a ground out by Adam Rodgers in the eighth. The tying run came on a balk call that scored Clay Reichenbach.
The Longhorns have won four straight over Rice, who eliminated Texas in the 2003 College World Series.
Huston Street (4-0) got the win by allowing no hits or runs in two innings.
Adam Hale (1-1) took the loss after allowing one hit and one run in one-third inning.
J.P. Howell started for Texas and struck out six while allowing one hit and no runs in three innings.
