Notes: Texas won its first series in Stillwater since 2001, though its eight-game win streak ended Sunday. Sr. 3B David Maroul, Soph. CF Drew Stubbs and Sr. SS Seth Johnston each homered in the ninth inning Saturday to break an 8-8 tie. Johnston collected at least two hits in each game of the series, with two homers and seven hits overall. Soph. RHP Kyle McCulloch threw his second complete game in four starts Friday.

Notes: Make it 31 seasons in a row with 30 wins or more for Fullerton. Jr. LHP Ricky Romero struck out 12 batters in 8.2 IP Friday, allowing a run on six hits. Jr. DH Trevor Mortensen tallied a grand slam and seven RBI on the week while filling in for injured Felipe Garcia, who broke his foot Tuesday.

Notes: A week of thrashing opponents ended with a run-rule shortened loss as Brad Owens threw the first shutout against the Green Wave this year. Fr. 3B Brad Emaus remains the team's top hitter, collecting at least one hit in each of the four games, including three doubles and a grand slam. He's batting .461-6-23 in C-USA games. Tulane cranked five homers in the series opener, and Sr. SS Tommy Manzella added three doubles.

Notes: Florida sweeps away Auburn for its fifth straight league series victory and holds first place in the SEC. Sr. RHP Connor Falkenbach saved Saturday's game with two scoreless innings before earning the win Sunday with 4.1 scoreless. He's 3-0, 1.62 in 33.1 SEC innings. Soph. 1B Matt LaPorta blasted two homers Friday and another Saturday as he drove in seven runs on the weekend. Jr. RHP Bryan Ball made his first start since April 1, but couldn't get out of the second inning Sunday.

Notes: Miami wins another series despite being held to its lowest three-game series output of the year. The Hurricanes nearly lost their first game in which RHP Cesar Carrillo (6 IP, 3 R) pitched Friday but scored five times in the eighth inning for a comeback victory that was helped by an error by FSU Fr. SS Ryne Jernigan that allowed the final two runs to score. Sr. RF Paco Figueroa went 3-for-3 with a homer, and Sr. LHP Brandon Camardese (6 IP, 6 H, 2 R) led the way in Saturday's win.

6. Oregon State
Last week: 3-0. Overall: 30-7, 9-3 in Pac-10. (4-3 vs. Top 25).
Notes: The Beavers won the first and last games of the series in their last time at-bat, both courtesy of Sr. 1B Andy Jenkins, who totaled eight hits and seven RBIs. "He's the chauffeur — he's driving everybody home," OSU coach Pat Casey said. Jenkins delivered an RBI single in the ninth inning Friday and a three-run double in the eighth inning Sunday, making a winner out of Soph. LHP Kevin Gunderson each time. Soph. LHP Anton Maxwell allowed only a solo home run in the sixth inning of Sunday's first game. It marked the first OSU one-hitter since B.R. Cook tossed one in 1999.

7. Georgia Tech
Last week: 1-3. Overall: 30-10, 16-5 in ACC. (6-1 vs. Top 25).
Notes: Georgia Tech apparently forgot to pack the bats for Charlottesville and lost its first ACC series in 14 tries. The last loss? A sweep at home against ... Virginia. Five runs and 23 hits has been a day's work for Tech this year, not a series output. Two doubles on Friday were the only extra-base hits on the weekend for the Yellow Jackets. Soph. RHP Blake Wood allowed two runs on seven hits over 7.2 IP Sunday in Tech's best mound performance, but still lost.

Notes: Nebraska matches the 34-8 start of the 2001 CWS team. The Huskers overcome three-run deficits on Wednesday and Sunday, with the final two of the Baylor series coming on back-to-back homers from Jr. 3B Alex Gordon and Sr. 1B Curtis Ledbetter to make a winner of Fr. RHP Johnny Dorn, who threw seven shutout innings of relief, allowing three hits. Soph. RHP Joba Chamberlain took it to the Bears Friday, striking out 10 over eight innings. Fr. 3B Ryan Wehrle drove in three runs with two doubles Friday and is batting .387 with nine RBI over the last 13 games.

Notes: Arizona goes winless in Sacramento, scoring eight runs in the process, which is less than its per game average entering the weekend. Three straight losses are a season high as were the five Wildcats errors in the 12-1 loss. Irvine Soph. RHP Justin Cassel (whose QB brother Matt was selected by the Patriots in the seventh round of the NFL draft) held UA to three hits in six innings Saturday. UCI's Chris Nicoll kept UA hitless for six innings Friday before allowing three runs in the seventh.

10. North Carolina

Notes: A perfect week, capped by a fourth ACC series sweep, scoots the Tar Heels into first place in the conference by percentage points. The 14 league wins match their 2004 total. UNC allowed three earned runs against Duke, finished by its seventh shutout of the season, a complete game by Soph. RHP Daniel Bard. Fr. 1B/3B Chad Flack batted .318 on the week with eight RBI and two home runs. His nine HRs rank second on the team behind Fr. OF Seth Williams, who hit two this week to tie Drex Roberts (1981) for the freshman record of 11.

Jr. RHP Mark McCormick (6.2 IP, 4 H, ER, 9 K) earned the only win at Nebraska, with Jr. RHP Ryan LaMotta closing it (2.1 IP, 6 K). Sr. C/DH Josh Ford's streak of reaching base safely ended at 37 games Sunday. Baylor yielded six unearned runs Friday.

Notes: Long Beach's offense scored in eight straight innings from Saturday to Sunday to pound out 20 runs on 26 hits in the final two games. Jr. SS Troy Tulowitzki totaled four hits, two home runs and five RBI in those two games. Jr. RHP Marco Estrada struck out 10 batters Saturday while allowing a run on four hits to win his first game since March 19. Soph. RHP Jared Hughes won his fifth straight decision Sunday (6 IP, 7 H, 2 R), though his scoreless innings streak ended at 20.2 in the first frame. OF Sean Boatright has a 20-game hitting streak.

Notes: Alabama leads the SEC West after winning its first series against South Carolina since 2001. The Crimson Tide already has matched its 2004 wins total and topped its 2004 SEC wins total. Sr. OF Gabe Scott batted .583-2-4 on the week, but his 27-game hit streak ended Saturday. Jr. RHP T.J. Large allowed one hit over the first eight innings Friday before allowing a single and homer to open the ninth. Soph. LHP Wade LeBlanc allowed six base runners in a complete game Saturday.

RHP Max Scherzer struck out nine batters and allowed one run over six innings Friday before rain forced a suspension of the game until Saturday morning, when OU earned the win.

Fr. 1B/LHP Joe Savery batted .545 with a homer and six runs, extending his hit streak to 12 games. He threw his first career complete game Sunday. Fr. LHP Cole St. Clair struck out 18 batters with no walks in 8.2 IP over two relief appearances, including 12 in 6.1 IP Friday to earn a win.

Notes: LSU reeled off its fifth straight SEC win to move into a tie for second place in the West. LHPs Clay Dirks (9 IP, 3 H, 9 K) and Greg Smith (9 IP, 8 H, 3 K) tossed shutouts on consecutive days, with Smith extending a scoreless innings streak to 16.2. Sr. OF Ryan Patterson homered three times, including twice Friday, to extend his SEC lead with 16 longballs. Sr. RF Nick Stavinoha hit a three-run homer Friday to cap a string of 10 unanswered runs.

He has two or more hits in seven straight games. Fr. CF J.J. Sferra went 9-for-14 on the weekend while Soph. 2B Seth Dhaenens totaled six hits and four steals while extending his hit streak to 12 games. Sr. 1B Jeff Larish hit his Pac-10 best 15th homer.

Notes: Tennessee won its first game at Vanderbilt since 2001 on Friday but dropped the final two games. Jr. RHP Luke Hochevar (7.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, ER, 6 K) won Friday when Tennessee scored five in the seventh inning. Sr. 2B Eric King and Fr. C J.P. Arencibia each drove in two runs. Fr. LHP James Adkins struck out eight batters and allowed a run over 6.2 innings Saturday, but Vandy won on a 10th-inning homer by SS Dominic de la Osa.

Notes: The Gamecocks have lost two straight SEC series and are 2-6 in their last eight. Sr. RHP Zac McCamie took a no-hitter into the fifth inning Sunday to earn his team-best eighth win. Sr. 1B Steve Pearce hit three home runs in the series, including two Saturday, but none of his teammates swung the bats well, especially in the first two games when South Carolina totaled just eight hits.

This was a huge opportunity that we couldn't lose," said Jr. 3B Chris Minaker, who had five hits and three RBI over the last two games. Jr. RHP Jeff Gilmore (CG, 4 H, ER, 9 K) out-dueled Tim Lincecum (CG, 4 H, 2 R, ER, 11 K) in the opener.

Notes: Lafayette won its fourth straight conference series after dropping Friday's opener and has 13 wins in its last 16 games. Closer Kraig Schambough earned his 10th career save Saturday to tie the school record. 1B Philip Hawke ended a 2-for-22 Sun Belt slump by collecting five hits Saturday and Sunday, including two homers to raise his team-leading total to seven. Josh Landry went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI Saturday.

RHP Ian Kennedy won two games on the week, getting the W in the completion of the Fullerton game (despite not putting on spikes Tuesday) before striking out seven in seven innings Friday against Cal to improve to 7-1, 2.84. Fr. OF Matt Cusick delivered a ninth-inning sacrifice fly Saturday to give USC the win after Jr. C Jeff Clement already had collected four hits, including his 10th homer. Cal's Eric Dworkis threw a four-hit complete game Sunday.

Notes: Fans bought 26,007 tickets for the series, breaking the SEC record of 25,868, though 25,073 humans pushed through the turnstiles to see their Razorbacks get swept for the first time since Mississippi beat them with brooms in 2003. A regular-season record 8,593 came Friday, when LSU's Nick Stavinoha hit a game-winning three-run home run in the ninth inning. Soph. 1B Danny Hamblin tallied three hits and five RBI in that one before the Hogs got blanked over the final two games, going 23 innings without a run. The double bagels hadn't happened to Arkansas since 2002 against LSU.

Notes: Soph. RHP Bryan Henry enjoyed the week of his life, shutting down Florida on Tuesday (7.1 IP, 8 H, 2 R) and Miami on Sunday (8 IP, 4 H, R). "I can't ask for much more than what happened this week," Henry said. Sr. 1B Danny Wardell homered twice in the series, including a grand slam Sunday, when So. CF Shane Robinson totaled three hits and Fr. SS Ryne Jernigan drove in two runs. Jernigan's misplay Friday night allowed the final two runs of Miami's five-run eighth-inning comeback to cross home.

LHP David Price struck out 11 batters over 6.2 IP. He allowed three runs and left with the lead but ended up with a no-decision. SS Dominic De La Osa hit a walk-off home run Saturday to make a winner of Jr. LHP Ryan Mullins, who threw his second straight complete game (9 IP, 5 H, ER, 3 BB, 7 K).

Sr. OF Brett Gardner scored his 185th career run to pass Brett Spivey on the all-time list. He's four steals shy of the school record of 82, and hit .600 against Davidson. Sr. RHP Danny Gemma threw the first complete game of the year on Saturday.
