1. Cal State Fullerton
Last Week: 2-1
Overall: 28-9, 5-1 in Big West (2-3 vs. Top 25)
Weekend Series: 9-2
Notes: Fullerton has won 19 of its last 22 games. Senior OF Danny Dorn made his first start since March 11 on Saturday (shoulder troubles) and hit his first homer of the year. Fullerton has hit 21 homers this season.

2. Rice

Notes: Rice has won 14 straight games, its longest string of success since running off 30 consecutive wins in 2003. Freshman DH Adam Zornes went 7-for-10 with four homers and nine RBI on the week, starting three games after making just two previous starts. Sophomore left-hander Joe Savery hasn't pitched in three weeks, but he's still playing first base.

3. North Carolina

Weekend Series: 7-1
Notes: North Carolina has won eight of its last nine games and 11 of 13. Its pitching staff allowed one earned run in the series sweep as the Tar Heels committed three errors in the first and third games. Junior right-hander Robert Woodard allowed a run over seven innings Saturday, a day before junior right-hander Daniel Bard (7 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 5 K) earned his first win since March 11.

4. Nebraska

Notes: Nebraska has won 10 straight after getting complete games from sophomore left-hander Tony Watson (5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) and sophomore right-hander Johnny Dorn (8 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K) to close out the sweep of former pitching coach Rob Childress, now A&M's head guy. Oh, junior right-hander Joba Chamberlain struck out 11 batters in 6.1 innings in the opener. Here are the attendance figures for the series: 7,318, a school-record 8,757 and 8,415.

5. Texas

Weekend Series: 6-3.
Notes: Remember when Texas was 9-8? The Longhorns are 18-4 since. Texas' 12-4 start in conference play is its best since 2000. Three close games drew great performances from the Longhorns' bullpen. Freshman left-hander Austin Wood allowed two hits and no runs in 4.1 innings Thursday, recording seven strikeouts in the extra-innings win before notching a one-inning save Saturday. Freshman left-hander Joseph Krebs won Friday's game (5.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 6 K). Crowds for the three-game series: 5,313 (at Baylor), and 6,333 and 6,373 (both at Texas).

Notes: Clemson starters allowed 15 earned runs in nine innings in the series loss, and the 22 Georgia Tech runs Sunday were the most Clemson has allowed in the 183 games between the schools. Senior RF Travis Storrer drove in five runs in the series and hit two homers Sunday.

Notes: South Carolina won the Ole Miss series, but lost its errorless streak Sunday (14 games, 123 innings, 507 chances). Freshman right-hander Mike Cisco threw his best game of the year Friday (8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 8 K). Senior OF Michael Campbell had eight hits and five RBI in the series, including four and three Saturday, with a game-winning two-run double in the eighth inning.

8. Florida State

Weekend Series: 8-2.
Notes: Miami snapped FSU's 32-game home winning streak Friday. Junior CF Shane Robinson extended his hit streak to 26 games Sunday, when sophomore RF Jack Rye had four hits, a homer and four RBI. Crowds topped 6,000 for each of the first two games, and Saturday's 6,717 is a Dick Howser stadium record. Junior right-hander Tyler Chambliss held Miami to an unearned run on four hits over seven innings Saturday, improving to 9-1 behind a 20-hit attack.

9. Oregon State
Last Week: 4-0

Weekend Series: 5-2.
Notes: Credit Oregon State with nine wins in 10 games, and 13 in its last 15. This marks the first-ever three-game sweep of Stanford for OSU and the fewest runs the Beavers have allowed in a three-game set. OSU hadn't thrown consecutive shutouts since 1999, while Stanford hadn't been the victim of back-to-back shutouts since 1975. Right-handers Mike Stutes (6.2 IP, 3 H), Dallas Buck (8.2 IP, 4 H) and Jonah Nickerson (7 IP, 2 H, ER) helped hold Stanford to 10 hits in the series.

10. Arizona State

Notes: ASU was glad to be the home team in a series in which every game was won in a team's last at-bat. It lost a four-run lead in the ninth Thursday, but got walk-off singles from junior 3B Seth Dhaenens and junior RF Colin Curtis to prevail in the final two games. Sophomore 2B Eric Sogard tallied eight hits, six RBI and seven runs in the series. He fell a homer shy of the cycle Friday before going deep twice Saturday.

11. Alabama

Notes: Alabama lost its first SEC series of the year as its pitching staff failed for the first time. It has lost five straight series at LSU. Sophomore right-hander David Robertson allowed a three-run homer to give up a lead Saturday and has allowed 10 earned runs in his last five appearances. Senior 2B Evan Bush rang up four hits, two homers and seven RBI in Sunday's slugfest.

12. Arkansas
Last Week: 2-2

Weekend Series: 5-2. Notes: Four walks, an error and a hit by pitch helped Arkansas turn a 9-4 ninth-inning deficit into a win Friday. Sophomore LF Clint Arnold hit a three-run homer Saturday as Arkansas built an 8-1 lead. Junior 1B Danny Hamblin totaled six hits, including HR No. 11, on the weekend. Fans continue to pack Baum Stadium: 7,691, 8,486, and 6,169 attended the three-game set.

13. Georgia Tech

Notes: Tech earns a big series win by hitting .360 and setting records for most runs in a game (22) and a series (40) against Clemson. Junior 3B Wes Hodges drove in 13 runs over the final two games on three doubles and two homers.

14. North Carolina State

Notes: N.C. State has won eight of its last nine ACC games and keeps piling up runs, nullifying the fact that no Wolfpack starter made it out of the fifth inning over the weekend. Sophomore 2B Ramon Corona went 9-for-14 in the series with five runs scored and seven RBI, while junior 1B Aaron Bates was 8-for-14 with six runs and four RBI.

15. Oklahoma

Notes: OU completes its first conference sweep by winning in its last at-bat for the second straight game and fourth time on the week. The Sooners have won six straight games. Senior 2B Ryan Rohlinger was Sunday's hero with a two-out RBI single in the ninth inning. Senior 1B Kevin Smith hit a two-run walk-off homer the day before, sending all local clerks and mall rats home happy.

16. Vanderbilt

Weekend Series: 6-1
Notes: This was a key week for Vanderbilt, which won a conference series despite losing sophomore left-hander David Price's Friday start. It was all about freshman 3B Pedro Alvarez. He hit two homers in each of the two midweek games and then added two more against Georgia in a week in which he went 9-for-18 with 17 RBI, seven runs scored and six walks. He drove in four runs Saturday, stroking an RBI single to cap a two-run ninth-inning rally. Sophomore SS Dominic De La Osa hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs Sunday.

17. Mississippi State

Notes: Mississippi State has lost its last three SEC series and is 10-9 since its 18-0 start. Senior left-hander Brooks Dunn fell victim to the shortest outing of any MSU starter on Friday (3 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 6 ER). Senior SS Thomas Berkery hit two homers in Friday's loss, and junior 1B Brian LaNinfa hit a grand slam in the eighth inning Saturday to break open a close game.

18. Notre Dame

Weekend Series: 4-0.
Notes: The yin to Mississippi State's yang, Notre Dame has won 17 straight games following a 10-8 start. It's the nation's longest active win streak, the best in Paul Mainieri's tenure and one game shy of the 1991 school record. The 11 straight Big East wins is the second-best run in league history. ND blew a 4-0 lead Saturday before scoring three times in the ninth to sweep the series on a walk-off homer by senior CF Alex Nettey. Senior 1B Craig Cooper had three hits and three RBI in the doubleheader sweep. An Eck Stadium record 3,052 fans came for the Thursday doubleheader, and that record was toppled by Saturday's crowd of 3,101.

Notes: Charleston matches the 2004 team for the best start in school history. It has three straight wins against Winthrop. Sophomore C Alex Garabedian collected seven hits, six RBI, four runs and six walks on the week. Sophomore SS Oliver Marmol has a 16-game hit streak.

Notes: A week after throwing a no-hitter, Northeastern junior right-hander Adam Ottavino struck out 13 batters in nine innings against ODU, but the Monarchs scored twice in the bottom of the 10th to escape with the win. Junior right-hander Jason Godin set a school record with 18 strikeouts (without a walk) in a complete game Saturday. Godin and Justin Verlander shared the previous mark of 17.

21. Kentucy

Weekend Series: 5-2.
Notes: Kentucky lost consecutive games for the second time this season before winning the finale to top its SEC wins total from each of the last two seasons. Junior 1B Ryan Strieby hit two homers and drove in eight runs in the series. UK pitchers walked 11 batters and hit eight more in the first two games of the series. They also walked four, hit one and made an error in the ninth inning Friday, blowing a 9-4 lead.

22. USC

Notes: USC scored five runs in the ninth inning Thursday to win the opener, despite having trailed 8-1 following one of the worst starts of junior right-hander Ian Kennedy's career (5.1 IP, 11 H, 8 ER, 2 BB, 4 K). ASU won the final two games on walk-off singles. Freshman starters Ryan Cook (4.2 IP, 10 H, 6 ER) and Tommy Milone (5 IP, 10 H, 5 ER) didn't fare much better than did Kennedy in a wild series.

23. Winthrop

Weekend Series: 8-2.
Notes: Winthrop started the week with its third straight loss to Charleston, but finished it with big sticks. Sophomore 3B Mitch Saum hit three-run homers in each of the final two games of the UNC Asheville series, while junior 2B Chris Carrara also homered in both games and junior LF Tommy Lentz rang up three hits in each of those contests to extend his hit streak to 18 games. Junior right-hander Heath Rollins struck out a career-high 14 batters in the opener, falling one shy of a complete game.

Notes: Sophomore left-hander Scott Maine recorded a career-high eight strikeouts Sunday (7 IP, 6 H, 3 R), and freshman LF Blake Tekotte homered twice as Miami won its first series of the year against a ranked team. The Hurricanes ended FSU's 32-game home win streak on Friday and became the first visiting team to win a series in Tallahassee since 2004. Junior 3B Danny Valencia hit a grand slam as part of a five-RBI game Friday.

Notes: Freshman DH Josh Romanski went 3-for-4 as USD used a four-run seventh inning to win the opener on Thursday. Romanski earned the win in relief in the final game of the series, as USD again battled back to win on a walk-off RBI single by junior SS Steve Singleton. Junior right-hander Josh Butler lost the middle game and has allowed 30 hits and 11 runs (eight earned) in his last 15 innings.

Notes: Creighton scored six runs in three games and now hasn't won at SIU since 1996. It has also lost all four Sunday conference games it has played. Senior 3B Zach Daeges has driven in a run in eight straight games.

Notes: Baylor went winless but played two of the nation's hottest teams close in every one. The Bears hadn't suffered an 0-4 week since March 2004. Senior C Zach Dillon went 8-for-14 against Texas, scoring three runs and driving in two. Senior Ryan LaMotta's scoreless streak ended at 20 innings Thursday, when he allowed his first extra-base hit in 30 innings.
