Rebenar resigns as Oklahoma State softball coach
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Margaret Rebenar resigned Tuesday as Oklahoma State's softball coach, ending a 27-year run as a member of the Cowgirls' coaching staff.
Rebenar led Oklahoma State to two NCAA tournament berths in five seasons and had a 151-119 record as head coach. The Cowgirls finished this season 21-29 and missed the NCAA tournament.
Rebenar joined Oklahoma State's staff as an assistant in 1980 before becoming the associate head coach under Sandy Fischer. While Rebenar was on the coaching staff, Oklahoma State went to the Women's College World Series six times between 1982 and 1998.
"We will begin a national search immediately and I'm confident we will be able to bring in a coach who can elevate the program to national prominence," athletic director Mike Holder said.
