Lake's homer leads Baylor past Portland State
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Chelsi Lake hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to lead Baylor to a 5-3 victory against Portland State Friday in the NCAA women's softball Corvallis Regional.
Lisa Ferguson (19-13) got the complete game win for the Bears, allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.
Pitcher Mandy Hill hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to give Portland State the early lead.
Hill (23-8) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and four runs. She struck out five.
Michelle Hext relieved Hill in the seventh to face Lake, who hit the game winner.
Kelly Osburn touched off Baylor's rally with a solo homer in the seventh.
Baylor will play the winner of Friday's late game between Oregon State and Nevada on Saturday. Portland State will play the loser of the game in the double-elimination tournament.
