Oregon State bests Nevada in Corvallis
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Kellie Roberts scored on Brittany Lorenzen's fielding error in the bottom of the seventh inning as Oregon State beat Nevada 2-1 in the NCAA softball tournament Corvallis Regional Friday.
Brianne McGowan (25-6) allowed one run on three hits over seven innings for the Beavers (39-13). She struck out 10.
Jordan McPherson (22-21) allowed two runs on five hits over 6 1/3 innings in the loss for Nevada (33-32). She struck out five.
Nevada took the early lead with Cindy Elkins' solo home run in the third inning.
Oregon State tied it up in the fifth inning on Cambria Miranda's team-leading 15th home run.
Roberts' unearned winning run came when Adrienne Alo's grounder slid under shortstop Lorenzen's glove with the bases loaded.
Next up for the Beavers is Baylor, which defeated Portland State 5-3 earlier Friday. Nevada will play the Vikings Saturday in the double-elimination tournament.
