Portland State downs Nevada for first postseason win
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Kimi Daniel scored the go-ahead run when Jamee Rauch reached base on a fielder's choice and Portland State beat Nevada 2-1 Saturday in the NCAA Corvallis Regional.
It was the first-ever postseason victory for the Vikings (38-19). Mandy Hill (24-7) allowed just one run on two hits in a complete game.
Jordan McPherson (22-22) allowed two runs on four hits in six innings for Nevada (33-33), which was eliminated.
Nevada took the early lead in the third inning with Cindy Elkins' solo home run.
Portland State tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with Rauch's RBI single. Rauch's fielder's choice scored Daniel in the sixth.
