CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Oregon State senior Chris Kunda's two-run, two-out double in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday night helped the Beavers to a 5-3 win against Wright State in the opening round of the NCAA Corvallis Regional.

Oregon State squandered a 3-0 lead after four innings in front of 2,587 at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Wright State's Amin Abusaleh made it 3-2 on a two-out bases-loaded single in the fifth. The Raiders added the tying run in the sixth on an RBI groundout by Justin Parker.

Oregon State's Cole Gillespie, the Pacific-10 Conference player of the year, opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first, his 12th of the season.

The Beavers got two more in the fourth on a bases-loaded single by Darwin Barney.

From there, though, the Beavers had just one runner on base until the eighth, when Tyler Graham was hit by a pitch with two outs.

Teammate Scott Santschi followed with a walk. Kunda's double found a gap in left-center field that allowed Graham and Santschi to score. The Beavers nearly had another run on a single by Barney, but Kunda was thrown out trying to score on the play.

Oregon State's Barney, Kunda and John Wallace all finished with two hits. Wright State's Aaron Garcia and Brian Shoup also had two hits.

Oregon State's Eddie Kunz pitched two innings of relief to take the win, improving to 5-1 on the season. Oregon State (40-14) advances to play Kansas at 6 p.m. Saturday. Wright State (30-26) plays Hawaii at 1 p.m. Saturday in a loser-out game. Kansas defeated Hawaii in an earlier game Friday.
