Clark leads Clemson past UNC Asheville
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Right-hander Sean Clark's first work in the NCAA tournament and Stan Widmann's first home run of the season gave Clemson a 3-0 victory over North Carolina Asheville on Saturday.
Clark shut down the Bulldogs on three hits over eight innings and Widmann had a two-run blast in the second for the Tigers.
Because the game was suspended after only a half inning on Friday night, both teams are back in action later. The Bulldogs (28-34) will try to keep their first NCAA tournament trip going against Mississippi State. The Tigers (48-14), the NCAA tournament's overall No. 1 seed, face Elon in the nightcap.
