Duran's clutch hitting sparks Bruins
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Pac-10 player of the year Andrea Duran hit a triple and a solo home run to lead UCLA over Alabama 4-1 in Saturday's elimination game.
In elimination games scheduled for Saturday night, UCLA (49-8) will meet Texas (55-8) while Arizona State (53-14) will play Tennessee (59-11).
Duran tripled for UCLA in the first inning and hit her 14th homer of the season in the third. She scored in the first on Krista Colburn's RBI single.
Tara Henry's single in the sixth inning accounted for the other UCLA runs.
UCLA's Angelica Selden (34-6) limited Alabama (54-11) to six hits. She fanned five and walked three.
Alabama's only run came on Dominique Accetturo's two-out home run in the second inning. It was her fifth homer of the year.
Steph VanBrakle (28-6) was the loser for the Crimson Tide and threw two innings, allowing three hits and three runs. Chrissy Owens replaced her in the second inning and threw five innings, allowing one run. She fanned one and walked one.
