Evansville splits a pair of games in Charlottesville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Robbie Minor's grand slam capped a seven-run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning for Evansville, who defeated Lehigh 10-6.
The Purple Aces (41-21) used four hits, a walk and a hit batsman to set the stage for Minor's first career slam. It came against Geoff Campbell, who fell behind 3-0, threw two strikes and then saw his next pitch land in the left field bleachers.
Matt Brinkmann (6-5), who allowed only two hits over the final 2 1-3 innings, got the victory and Leland Weisband (2-1), the second of three Lehigh pitchers in the ninth, took the loss. Weisband allowed a single, a walk and hit a batter in the ninth.< ^South Carolina 4, Evansville 2=
In the early game, freshman Mike Cisco (7-4) pitched a six-hitter for the first complete game of his career as South Carolina defeated Evansville 4-2.
Justin Smoak and Trent Kline each went 2-for-3 for the Gamecocks (38-22), with Smoak driving in a pair of runs and Kline scoring a pair and driving in another.
Adam Rogers (7-5) allowed four runs -- two earned -- and eight hits in six innings. Jeff Zelenovich was 2-for-4 and drove in both runs for Evansville.<
