BYU track coach Robison, '48 Olympian, dies at 83
PROVO, Utah -- Former BYU track and field coach Clarence Robison, a member of the 1948 Olympic team, has died. He was 83.
Robison, who coached the Cougars from 1949-88, died Monday in his sleep, BYU said Tuesday.
"We have lost one of the greats," athletic director Tom Holmoe said.
BYU won 18 conference championships under Robison and tied for the national championship in 1970. His son, Mark, is coach of the BYU men's track and field team.
Robison is survived by his wife, Monita, nine children, 41 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His funeral is scheduled for Monday in Provo.
