THE SERIES
All-time: North Dakota leads, 128-84-8
Current series streak: North Dakota, won 12

Special Series Notes
Dirty Donzen: North Dakota has won 12 straight in this series, dating back to Feb. 8, 2003, when Michigan Tech downed the Fighting Sioux, 5-2, in Grand Forks.

Nine Down, One To Go: Michigan Tech coach Jamie Russell, now in his fourth season, has wins against every WCHA opponent except North Dakota. His first season behind the Huskies' bench coincided with the start of the Sioux's current 12-game win streak.

NEED TO KNOW: Michigan Tech
Now Isn't That Special?: Michigan Tech's penalty-killing unit is one of the nation's best with an 87.5 percent (77 of 88) success rate. Surprisingly, the Huskies, who rank second in the WCHA and ninth nationally in that category, have allowed a power-play goal in 11 of the 16 games this season … but haven't given up more than one a game.

This Is Definitely Not Special: Tech's power play success rate entering the weekend is a woeful 5.6 percent (five of 90). That's not only last in the WCHA -- it's last among the 59 Division I teams. In fact, 20 players have more power play goals than the Huskies.

The Road Is Not Our Friend: The Huskies come into the North Dakota series without a league road win, the only team in the WCHA winless in the conference away from home. Tech has a 10-game road winless streak (0-8-2) against WCHA foes dating back to Feb. 4 of last season, when it beat Minnesota State in Mankato by a 3-2 margin.

Crooked Numbers Are Good: The Huskies are 6-2-1 this season when scoring more than one goal.

Six-Week Hangover: Since scoring 14 points in a sweep of Alaska-Anchorage on Oct. 27-28, Tech has scored 15 goals in its next 10 games.

NEED TO KNOW: North Dakota
Rare Territory: North Dakota's record dropped to 7-8-1 after visiting Wisconsin swept the Fighting Sioux in Grand Forks last weekend. It's the first time the Sioux have been below .500 since the team closed the 2001-2002 campaign with a 16-19-2 record.

Been A Long Time: The Fighting Sioux have lost five of their last six games. It's the team's worst run since closing the 1995-96 campaign -- Dean Blais' second season behind the North Dakota bench -- by losing five of six, including a pair of first-round WCHA playoff losses to Wisconsin.

Even Steven: Need a simple explanation as to why North Dakota is a game below .500 in mid-December? The Fighting Sioux have allowed 51 goals this season, which equals the number of goals they've scored. In WCHA play, UND has scored 38 goals while giving up 39 scores.

I've Got The Power: The North Dakota power play is clicking at a phenomenal 23.5 percent success rate, third best in the WCHA and fourth in the nation in that category. The Fighting Sioux have at least one power play goal in 12 of their 16 games this season, including 10 of the last 11.

Four Or More: The Fighting Sioux are 5-0-0 this season when scoring four or more goals in a game. They're 2-8-1 when recording three or fewer goals.
