Wraparound wins game in OT for North Dakota
DENVER -- North Dakota is going to the Frozen Four.
Chris Porter's wraparound goal with 10:17 remaining in overtime lifted North Dakota to a 3-2 win over Minnesota in the NCAA West Regional championship in Denver today.
Porter went around the net and stuffed the puck past Minnesota goalie Jeff Frazee.
North Dakota had a 2-1 lead in the third period. But Jay Barriball's shot from the left circle trickled off Sioux goalie Philippe Lamoureux and into the net at the 13:11 mark to tie it in regulation at two apiece.
Lamoureux finished with 27 saves, including three in overtime.
The Frozen Four begins April 5th in St. Louis.
