Baseball America takes a look at how the Top 25 teams fared in the past week:

1. Arizona
Last Week: 3-0.
Overall: 5-1, 0-0 in Pac-10. (0-0 vs. Top 25).

Notes: Arizona's bats upstaged its touted pitching in a three-game sweep of Sacramento State, with senior 1B C.J. Ziegler (5-for-12, 3 HR, 8 RBIs) and sophomore 3B Dillon Baird (5-for-12, 2 2B, GS, 6 RBIs) leading a Wildcat offense that hit .384/.470/.808 on the weekend. Carrithers went 7-for-16 on the week with three doubles and four RBIs. Sophomore RHP Charles Brewer (7.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K) was strong in Friday's win, starting in place of sophomore LHP Gavin Brooks, who did not pitch because of a blister on his throwing hand. Junior LHP Brendan Lafferty delivered five shutout, two-hit innings of relief to keep the Bruins within striking distance Sunday.

Notes: After going 3-5 in one-run games a year ago, Baylor is 5-0 in one-run contests in the first two weeks of 2008, after winning two such games this weekend. Friday's win wasn't much of a nail-biter, though, as the Bears scored 10 runs in the second inning. Sophomore OF Aaron Miller doubled and homered in that frame en route to a 5-for-5 day with three homers and six RBIs, making him just the second player to hit three homers in a game at Baylor Ballpark, joining former McNeese State star Ben Broussard. Sophomore RHP Jorge Reyes (0.2 IP, 7 H, 7 ER) was hammered in Saturday's loss, but freshman 3B Garrett Nash (3-for-3, 2B, 2 RBIs) was a bright spot offensively. Notes: Certainly, Irvine is out to prove last year's CWS run was no fluke. Junior CF Ollie Linton, a key returnee, is off to a fast start, hitting .423 with 11 runs and is 7-for-7 on stolen bases so far. Redshirt freshman RHP Graham Stoneburner (5 IP, 5 H, 3 ER) was solid in a no-decision Friday, and senior C Doug Hogan and sophomore 1B Ben Paulsen each went 3-for-5 with a homer as the Tigers scored two in the eighth for a comeback win against College of Charleston. South Carolina jumped on junior LHP Ryan Hinson (6 IP, 7 R, 1 ER) for five runs over the first two innings Saturday, and the Tigers left nine runners on base to the Gamecocks' four. Junior RHP D.J. Mitchell (5.1 IP, 10 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K) kept Sunday's game close despite yielding 10 hits, but sophomore OFs Wilson Boyd (3-for-4) and Alex Lee (2-for-3) were the lone offensive bright spots for Clemson.

He was 14-for-21 on the week with 17 RBIs despite drawing six walks. Junior RHP Scott Green had a perfect game into the seventh and struck out nine in a career-best 7 IP against the Bulldogs.

SDSU mustered just a run on six hits Friday against Missouri, wasting a solid effort from sophomore LHP Nate Solow (7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K). Freshman OF Gary Brown (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBIs) performed well out of the leadoff spot Sunday and helped the Titans build a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth, but Stanford answered with single runs in the final two innings to seal the sweep.

Notes: Fresno State salvaged a win Sunday to keep from going 0-4 at the USD Tournament. Junior LHP Justin Wilson (4.1 IP, 9 H, 5 ER) struggled with his command and was hit hard in Thursday's blowout. Junior RHP Tanner Scheppers (6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 9 K) was brilliant for five innings Friday before surrendering a go-ahead two-run homer to San Diego's Victor Sanchez, and the Bulldog bats were stymied by USD ace Brian Matusz after touching him for two runs in the first. Fresno managed just four hits Saturday, wasting a strong outing by senior RHP Clayton Allison (7.1 IP, 1 ER). Finally the bats came alive Sunday in support of junior RHP Justin Miller (6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER), with junior 2B Eric Wetzel (4-for-6, 3 R, 2 RBIs) leading the way out of the leadoff spot.
