Arizona State pounded out 42 hits on the weekend, led by junior C Petey Paramore (8-for-14, 5 R, 3 RBIs). Senior RHP Tommy Rafferty appeared in all three games and threw a combined 5.2 scoreless innings of relief, picking up the win Friday and Sunday. Sophomore LHP Eric Erickson did not make the trip because of elbow soreness, and freshman LHP Chris Hernandez (7 IP, 5 ER) had his worst career start in Erickson's place Friday. But junior OF Dennis Raben delivered two-run doubles in the first and 10th innings to power Miami's win. The Canes rapped out 12 hits Sunday, led by sophomore SS Ryan Jackson (3-for-4, 2 2B, RBI), and senior RHP Enrique Garcia (8 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) turned in his strongest outing of the year to pick up his first win.

Notes: The Tar Heels had to settle for a split against rival North Carolina State after Sunday's series finale was washed out; ACC rules prohibit it from being made up. Four UNC pitchers combined to strike out 17 on Friday, led by sophomore RHP Alex White (5.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 11 K), and senior 3B Chad Flack's three-run homer capped UNC's five-run fifth. Junior RHP Adam Warren (5 IP, 6 H, 2 ER) was solid in a no-decision Saturday, but the Wolfpack scored six runs over the seventh and eighth innings with help from three UNC errors and a catcher's interference. Though junior RHP Aaron Crow (8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 9 K) fell just short of his third straight complete-game shutout Friday, he did stretch his streak of consecutive scoreless innings to 33.2. 8. Vanderbilt
Last Week: 4-0.
Overall: 18-6, 5-3 in SEC. (3-2 vs. Top 25).
Weekend Series: 3-1.
Notes: Mother Nature was uncooperative in Nashville this weekend, as Friday's game was washed out and the start of Saturday's game was delayed five hours, eventually causing it to be suspended in the 12th inning by the midnight curfew. When play resumed Sunday, the Commodores scored a run in the bottom of the 12th on sophomore 3B Brian Harris' walk-off RBI double, then went on to win a seven-inning affair in the second half of the doubleheader. Senior 2B Alex Feinberg helped ensure the first game got to extra innings, going 5-for-6 with a double and three RBIs, and redshirt freshman RHP Russell Brewer threw five shutout innings in relief of sophomore LHP Mike Minor (5 IP, 5 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 8 K). Freshman DH Aaron Westlake (2-for-3, 2B, 3 RBI) led the offense in the second game, and five Vandy pitchers limited the Razorbacks to a pair of runs. 9. South Carolina
Last Week: 3-2.
Overall: 18-7, 6-3 in SEC (7-4 vs. Top 25).
Weekend Series: 5-1.
Notes: Two of the SEC's fiercest offenses exchanged blows Friday and Saturday before the Gamecocks won a low-scoring affair Sunday. Junior RHP Mike Cisco (3 IP, 12 H, 12 ER) saw his ERA jump from 2.45 to 5.25 in Friday's fiasco. Senior RHP Andrew Liebel (7.2 IP, 12 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 4 K) suffered his first loss of the year Friday, as the Dirtbags were stymied by Cal ace Tyson Ross. Senior OF Jason Corder, who transferred from Cal prior to his junior year, gave the Dirtbags a 4-1 lead with a third-inning grand slam Saturday, but junior RHP Vance Worley (6 IP, 12 H, 9 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 K) could not hold it. Freshman RHP Jake Thompson (6.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) was solid in defeat Sunday, but LBSU's two-run eighth-inning rally fell short.

Weekend Series: 5-0.
Notes: Stanford won its conference-opening series for the first time since 2005 and has now won eight consecutive weekend series dating back to last year. It took some time for the Cardinal bats to wake up, as Washington State's Ross Humes carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning Friday. Junior LHP Jeremy Bleich (3 IP, 1 H, 0 R) left that game in the fourth with an undisclosed injury. Junior C Jason Castro (3-for-4, 2B, R, RBI) led a 12-hit attack Saturday in support of senior RHP Erik Davis (9 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 8 K). The series also snapped Rice's streak of 40 consecutive home-series victories, dating back to April 2001 (and including Super Regionals). Still, Rice has the same record through 28 games that it had last year, when it finished 56-14. Sophomore RHP Ryan Berry (8.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 4 BB, 13 K) was nearly untouchable after surrendering Trey Sutton's first-inning solo homer Friday, but USM ace Barry Bowden (8.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 10 K) out-dueled him. Every Owl starter registered at least one hit Saturday in support of senior RHP Chris Kelley (6.2 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K). With the score tied 7-7 in the ninth Sunday, the Golden Eagles put runners on the corners against senior LHP Cole St.Clair (3 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 ER), then scored the winning run on a wild pitch by junior RHP Bryan Price. Junior 3B Jermaine Curtis (9-for-14, 2B, 3B, 4 R, 3 RBI) caught fire in the series, raising his batting average from .224 to .289 in three games. He tripled and scored the winning run in the 10th Friday. On Saturday, sophomore 1B Casey Haerther became the first Bruin ever to record seven hits in a game; he went 7-for-7 with four doubles, four runs and four RBIs, and junior SS Brandon Crawford (4-for-7, 3B, 3 R, 2 RBI) also contributed to UCLA's 22-hit barrage. Haerther led the Bruins with two hits (including a homer) Sunday, but it wasn't enough to prevent sophomore LHP Gavin Brooks (6.1 IP, 10 H, 7 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) from losing his second straight start.
