Texas Tech's Hays becomes fourth coach to 1,500 wins
LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech's Larry Hays became the fourth baseball coach in NCAA history to reach 1,500 wins, reaching the milestone Wednesday with the Red Raiders' 10-5 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The 38-year coaching veteran joined Augie Garrido of Texas, Gene Stephenson of Wichita State and Mike Martin of Florida State as the only coaches to reach the mark. All are still coaching. Hays has led Texas Tech to the NCAA tournament nine times.
