1. Miami
Last Week: 5-0.
Overall: 26-2, 12-1 in ACC. (0-0 vs. Top 25).
Weekend Series: 7-0.
Notes: The Hurricanes ran their winning streak to 13 with a three-game sweep of Clemson, which has lost five straight. Sophomore RHP Kyle Bellamy picked up wins in relief Friday and Saturday before finally allowing his first run of the season Sunday; he's now 5-0, 0.40 with a 31-3 K-BB ratio and just six hits allowed in 22 IP over 15 appearances. Junior 1B Yonder Alonso blasted a two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth Friday. Freshman C Yasmani Grandal had a career-high four hits Saturday including the go-ahead homer in the sixth inning. Junior OF Dave DiNatale (8-for-17, 2 2B, 3B, 3 HR, 8 R, 11 RBI) capped off his big week with a three-run homer in the fifth inning Sunday that proved the game winner.

2. Arizona State

Notes: After playing their first 28 games in the state of Arizona (26 of them at home, two in neutral Surprise), the Sun Devils finally went on the road and proceeded to lose their first series of the year. ASU has not won at Stanford since 1997. The Devils struggled with runners on base all weekend and stranded 33 runners in three games. Junior OF/LHP Ike Davis went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer Friday and earned the win with 2.2 perfect innings of relief. Senior LHP Josh Satow (4 IP, 7 H, 5 ER) fell to 3-1 in Saturday's loss, though junior C Petey Paramore homered in defeat. ASU scored two in the first inning Sunday, but the Cardinal got to junior RHP Stephen Sauer and reliever Reyes Dorado for six runs in the fifth.

Notes: The Seminoles beat Virginia at its own pitching-and-defense game, winning a pair of 10-inning, 3-2 decisions in Sunday's doubleheader following a blowout win Friday. Junior C Buster Posey (8-for-13, 3 2B, 3B, HR, 3 R, 3 RBI) continued to swing a hot bat over the weekend, raising his team-leading line to .458/.554/.833 with nine homers and 37 RBIs. Junior SS Tony Delmonico had four hits Friday in support of sophomore LHP Matt Fairel (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K), who joined Missouri's Aaron Crow as the nation's only seven-game winners. In the first game of Sunday's twin bill, senior RHP Ryan Strauss (3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K) picked up the win in relief of freshman RHP Geoff Parker (7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K), and senior OF Jack Rye singled home the winning run in the 10th. Freshman DH Luke Smierciak was hit by a pitch to start the 10th inning of each game and scored the winning run in each.

Notes: Senior 3B Chad Flack singled to right field in the sixth inning of Sunday's series finale against Georgia Tech to become UNC's all-time hits leader with 292, breaking Chad Prosser's record. Flack, who also had two hits in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, extended his hitting streak to 14 games, matching his career best, and sophomore 2B Kyle Seager had five hits in the doubleheader to extend his hitting streak to 27 games, the fourth longest in school history. The Tar Heels cruised to a win Friday behind sophomore RHP Alex White (7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K), who improved to 5-2, 1.93 with 43-12 K-BB in 37 IP. After rain postponed Saturday's game, UNC split Sunday's twin bill, with junior RHP Adam Warren (5.1 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K) picking up the win in the first game and freshman RHP Matt Harvey (3.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER) taking the loss in the second.

Notes: The Golden Bears have won back-to-back series against West Coast powerhouses Long Beach State and Oregon State, and they are tied with Stanford and Arizona State atop the Pac-10 standings. Senior 2B Josh Satin, who had his school-record 27-game hitting streak snapped last Sunday against Long Beach State, has hit safely in the five games since and went 4-for-9 with three walks this weekend. Junior RHP Tyson Ross (7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 9 K) improved to 5-0, 1.97 in Friday's win, and freshman RHP Kevin Miller (6.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 7 K) was sensational in relief of junior LHP Craig Bennigson (2.1 IP, 3 ER) on Saturday. Miller, the national ERA leader, is 5-0, 0.00 with 38-14 K-BB in 39 IP. Senior RHP Alex Rollin (2.1 IP, 4 ER) took his first loss of the year Sunday.

Notes: The Big 12-leading Cornhuskers allowed just seven runs in a three-game sweep of Texas Tech. Senior RHP Johnny Dorn (7.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 10 K) and two relievers held the Red Raiders to three hits Friday. Junior OF Nick Sullivan's three-run homer in the first inning Saturday was all the support required for senior RHP Thad Weber (7.2 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 11 K), whose scoreless streak was snapped at 17 innings in the second. Sullivan (3-for-4, 2B, HR, R, 5 RBI) led the offense again Sunday in support of junior RHP Aaron Pribanic (6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 6 K). Sullivan's three-run homer in the fifth provided the winning margin.

Notes: Former Anteaters coach Dave Serrano returned to Irvine in a Cal State Fullerton uniform and handed the Eaters their first series loss of the year. Ace junior RHP Scott Gorgen (6 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K) told reporters he was a little too amped up Friday, and the Titans piled on against the UCI bullpen. Sophomore RHP Bryce Stowell (7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 7 K) was stellar in a no-decision Saturday, when sophomore RHP Eric Pettis blew a 1-0 lead in the ninth and allowed an unearned run in the 12th. But in the bottom of the frame, junior OF Ollie Linton singled home the tying run, stole second and scored the winning run on junior SS Ben Orloff's RBI single. Sophomore LHP Daniel Bibona (6.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 6 K) cruised Sunday until the Titans batted around in the seventh to overcome a 4-1 deficit.

Notes: Since its 14-game winning streak was snapped March 26, Missouri has lost six of nine, including a midweek defeat to Western Illinois and consecutive conference series losses to Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. Amazing junior RHP Aaron Crow (9 IP, 8 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K) continued his season-long brilliance on Friday night, extending his scoreless streak to 42.2 innings by throwing his sixth career shutout. On the season, he's 7-0, 0.69 with 67-11 K-BB in 52 IP. Junior RHP Ian Berger (6.1 IP, 4 R, 2 ER) fell to 3-1, 0.81 on Saturday, as the Tigers managed just three hits in support. Junior 1B Steve Gray homered twice Sunday in support of sophomore RHP Kyle Gibson (5 IP, 6 R, 4 ER), but junior LHP Rick Zagone (3 IP, 2 ER) took the loss in relief.

Notes: The Shockers stretched their winning streak to 19 games before dropping a 10-inning decision Friday, but they bounced back to take the series from Missouri State. Wichita State got tremendous production all weekend from the top two hitters in its lineup: senior CF Andy Dirks (9-for-12, 4 R, 5 RBI, 3 2B, HR) and sophomore RF Ryan Jones (8-for-16, 4 R, 8 RBI, 2B, 2 HR). Senior LHP Rob Musgrave (7.2 IP, 9 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K) was solid in a no-decision Friday before the WSU bullpen gave up five runs over the final 2.1 IP. Junior RHP Aaron Shafer (6 IP, 10 H, 8 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 9 K) was not his best but still earned the win Saturday, and junior LHP Anthony Capra (6 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) continued his steady play Sunday. Shafer and Capra both improved to 5-0 on the year.

Notes: Stanford has won nine straight weekend series but has swept just one of its six series this spring and has dropped a midweek game every week this season. But four of Stanford's six series wins have come against teams currently ranked in the Top 25 (Nebraska, Cal State Fullerton, Texas and Arizona State). After dropping a 10-inning affair Friday, the Cardinal rebounded to outscore mighty Arizona State 22-4 on Saturday and Sunday. Junior RHP Max Fearnow lasted just five batters Friday before senior RHP David Stringer (6.1 IP, 2 ER) provided strong relief, but a fielding blunder by junior OF Joey August helped Arizona State score twice in the 10th. The Cardinal rapped out a season-high 17 hits Saturday in support of senior RHP Erik Davis (9 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 6 BB, 5 K), who threw his second straight complete game. August (3-for-5, 2B, 2 R, 2 RBI) led the offense Sunday in support of sophomore RHP Jeffrey Inman (5 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 0 K), who worked his way out of repeated jams. Sunday's win gave coach Mark Marquess 1,300 career victories and moved him into the top 10 on the all-time coaching wins list.

Notes: Rice has won nine of its last 10 road games after sweeping Memphis. Sophomore RHP Ryan Berry allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out nine in a complete-game shutout in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader after Friday was washed out. Berry improved to 4-2, 2.29, and senior RHP Chris Kelley (6.1 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) improved to 4-1, 2.17 in the nightcap. Rice came from behind Sunday with three in the ninth, as sophomore 3B Diego Seastrunk delivered a game-tying RBI double and then scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Junior OF Kyle Russell's grand slam highlighted the Longhorns' six-run first inning Friday, and they scored three more in the late innings after Oklahoma tied the score at 7-7 in the sixth. Junior RHP Kenn Kasparek (5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER) fell to 1-2, 5.57 in Saturday's loss. Russell's three-run homer in the sixth inning Sunday -- just his third homer of the season -- broke open a 7-5 game. He finished with three of Texas's 14 hits, and freshman RHP Brandon Workman (6.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K) picked up the win in relief of sophomore LHP Riley Boening (1.1 IP, 5 ER).

Sophomore OF James Meador, senior C Logan Gelbrich and junior 1B Jose Valerio combined to go 9-for-12 with four home runs Saturday in support of junior LHP/OF Josh Romanski (5.1 IP, 9 H, 4 ER). Gelbrich homered again Sunday in support of freshman RHP Kyle Blair (6.1 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 K).

Georgia held South Carolina's potent offense to just five runs in a three-game sweep. Junior RHP Trevor Holder (7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K) traded zeroes with Mike Cisco in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader but earned a no-decision, as senior OF Matt Olson singled home the game's only run in the bottom of the ninth. Junior RHP Stephen Dodson (7 IP, 4 H, 3 ER) earned a no-decision in the nightcap, as senior 3B Ryan Peisel (3-for-4, 2 R, 3 RBI) hit a two-run single to highlight Georgia's four-run eighth inning. No late-inning heroics were necessary Sunday, as UGa scored three runs in the first and five Georgia pitchers held South Carolina to a pair of runs.

The Gamecocks pitched well but mustered just five runs all weekend. Junior RHP Mike Cisco (8 IP, 6 H, 0 R) outlasted Georgia's Trevor Holder (7 IP, 0 ER) in Friday's pitching duel, but the Bulldogs pushed a run across in the ninth inning against R-freshman RHP Parker Bangs. Junior LHP Will Atwood held the Bulldogs to one run through seven innings Saturday before they got to him for four in the eighth. Sophomore RHP Blake Cooper (7.2 IP, 8 H, 4 ER) was decent in Sunday's loss.

Notes: First-year coach Dave Serrano's return to his old stomping ground was a success, as the Titans took two out of three from rival UC Irvine. Sophomore OF Josh Fellhauer (3-for-5, 3 R, 3 RBI, HR) and junior OF Erik Komatsu (4-for-4, 3 R, 2 RBI, HR) led a 14-hit attack Friday in support of senior RHP Jeff Kaplan (7.2 IP, 7 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K), who turned in his longest start of the year. The Titans tied Saturday's game on a wild pitch in the ninth inning and took the lead in the 12th before senior RHP Adam Jorgenson (3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER) gave it back in the bottom of the frame. Fullerton trailed 4-1 Sunday before batting around in a seventh-inning rally capped by a go-ahead RBI single by freshman SS Christian Colon (3-for-4, 2 RBI).

Notes: After losing their last two SEC series on the road, Kentucky returned home and took two out of three from scuffling Mississippi State. The Wildcats pounded out 40 hits in the three-game series, led by senior OF Collin Cowgill (6-for-9, 6 R, 5 RBI, 2 HR, 6 BB) and junior 3B Chris McClendon (7-for-15, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2B, HR). Junior LHP Chris Rusin (6 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K) was solid in a no-decision Friday, but junior RHP Scott Green (7 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) was better in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. Senior RHP Greg Dombrowski (4.2 IP, 5 ER) got hit in a slugfest in the finale.

In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, junior RHP Scott Bittle (5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 9 K) picked up the win in relief of junior RHP Lance Lynn (4 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 5 K). Freshman LHP Drew Pomeranz (7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 2 Bb, 7 K) and junior RHP Justin Cryer (2 IP, 1 H, 0 R) combined to shut out the Commodores in the nightcap. Senior DH Fuller Smith (4-for-5, 3 R, RBI, HR) led a 17-hit attack Sunday in support of junior RHP Cody Satterwhite (6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 K).

After going 1-for-8 in his first two games back, Alvarez had a strong weekend, going 4-for-11 with two homers, a double, three RBIs and three runs. Sophomore LHP Mike Minor (6.2 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 2 K) struggled for the second straight week in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Vandy was shut out in the second game for the first time since May 5, 2007 against Georgia. Junior RHP Brett Jacobson (3.1 IP, 7 H, 6 ER) returned to the weekend rotation with poor results Sunday. The Rebels won the season series against Vandy for the first time since 2004.

The Dirtbags snapped their six-game losing streak Friday behind a strong outing from senior RHP Andrew Liebel (9 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 7 K), but they dropped the next two against UC Riverside to lose their Big West-opening series. The Highlanders erased a 4-2 deficit Saturday with a four-run seventh inning rally against junior RHP Vance Worley (6 IP, 12 H, 5 ER). The Beach managed just five hits Sunday against UCR's Paul Bargas (9 IP, 1 ER), and freshman RHP Jake Thompson (2.1 IP, 7 H, 6 ER) fell to 1-3, 4.75.

Sophomore LHP Gavin Brooks (8.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 4 K) turned in one of his best outings of the year in Sunday's win. He improved to 2-2, 5.61 with 27-25 K-BB in 34 IP.
