Led by junior OF Dennis Raben (7-for-13, 5 R, 2B, HR, 6 RBI), junior 1B Yonder Alonso (4-for-6, 6 R, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 3 BB) and junior OF Adan Severino (5-for-9, 2 2B, 6 RBI), Miami hit .378 in the series while outscoring Saint Mary's 30-9. Freshman LHP Chris Hernandez (5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER) improved to 8-0 on Friday, and sophomore LHP Eric Erickson (7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K) had his best outing of the year Saturday, as Miami pitching yielded a season-low two hits. The Canes have thrown three shutouts in their past six games.

Notes: The Sun Devils are 29-3 at home and just 6-5 on the road, but they went to UCLA and powered their way to a hard-fought series victory, slugging 10 home runs in three games even with junior 1B Ike Davis still sidelined by a strained rib muscle. Arizona State fell behind 5-0 through three innings Friday before tying the score with three in the eighth and exploding for five more in the ninth; leading the onslaught was sophomore OF Jason Kipnis (3-for-5, 2 HR, 4 RBI). The ASU bats produced just one extra-base hit Saturday in support of senior LHP Josh Satow (4.1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 5 BB, 1 K), who fell to 5-3, 5.59. Ten of Arizona State's 11 runs Sunday came via the long ball, as the Devils mashed a season-high six homers, including two by junior 3B Brett Wallace (3-for-5, 3 R, 4 RBI). The back-and-forth affair was tied 7-7 heading into ASU's four-run ninth, which was highlighted by junior C Petey Paramore's three-run homer to right field. Wallace now leads ASU in batting (.404) and on-base percentage (.534), and his 15 homers are tied for the team lead with Davis.

After Friday's game was rained out, senior RHP Johnny Dorn (7.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 11 K) was very strong in a no-decision in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, and Nebraska cobbled together a run in the eighth to break a 3-3 tie. Junior RHP Aaron Pribanic (6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K) was solid in the nightcap but was in line for the loss until senior 2B Jake Opitz delivered an RBI single and scored the tying run on an error in the ninth to force extra innings. Relievers Mike Nesseth and Erik Bird combined to strike out 11 over 5.2 scoreless innings of relief, setting the stage for senior C Mitch Abeita's game-winning RBI single in the 14th.

Senior RHP Jared Bradford (4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K) sparkled in relief Saturday, and the Tigers rapped out a balanced 13-hit attack. The bullpen was strong again Sunday, as freshman RHP Daniel Bradshaw and Bradford combined to throw 4.1 scoreless innings of relief, setting the stage for junior 1B Matt Clark's walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.

Junior LHP Chris Rusin (8.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) was outstanding in a no-decision in the first game of Saturday's twin bill, but UK mustered just three hits in support, and junior RHP Scott Green surrendered two runs in the 10th to take the loss. Sophomore LHP James Paxton was yanked after six pitches (all balls) in the nightcap, and the first three arms out of the bullpen allowed nine runs over the first five innings. Senior RHP Greg Dombrowski (6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 3 ER) left with an 8-5 lead Sunday, but the Tigers scored four runs over the final two innings against senior LHP Andrew Albers.

Junior OF David Sappelt (3-for-4, 3 R, 4 RBI, 2 HR) and senior OF Tommy Baldridge (4-for-5, 2 R) led Coastal's 14-hit attack in Saturday's slugfest. Junior 1B/RHP David Anderson (4.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 3 ER) got the start Sunday and took the loss.

Senior OF Clint Arnold's two-run homer highlighted a decisive three-run seventh Sunday, and freshman RHP Trent Appleby (5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K) picked up the win in relief of freshman RHP Greg Holle (2.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER).

Freshman LHP Tanner Robles (1.1 IP, 5 H, 9 ER, 4 BB, 0 K) was even worse Sunday after beating Arizona and Arizona State over his previous two starts, though freshman RHP Greg Peavey (6.2 IP, 6 H, 2 ER) turned in an encouraging relief performance.

Junior RHP Vance Worley (6.2 IP, 7 H, 5 ER) pitched well Saturday before running into trouble in Davis' decisive three-run seventh inning. Freshman RHP Jake Thompson (6.2 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K) was excellent in a no-decision Sunday, but the Aggies came back with three in the eighth against junior RHP Bryan Shaw.
