The Toreros dropped two of three at Rice and did not get a chance to salvage a series split, as the finale of the four-game set was rained out. USD has lost six of its past eight games. The Toreros made four errors Thursday behind erratic sophomore RHP Darrin Campbell (5.2 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 5 ER, 8 BB, 2 K). They made two more errors Friday and mustered just one hit in support of sophomore RHP Kyle Blair (8 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K). A rain delay of more than three hours ended junior RHP Matt Thomson's day after one inning Sunday, but junior RHP AJ Griffin (8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K) shut down the Owls for the rest of the day when play resumed.

The Golden Flashes dropped a pair of one-run games at Kennesaw State in Friday's doubleheader, and the rest of the four-game series was washed out. Junior RHP Brad Stillings (5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 6 BB, 6 K) worked around control issues and took a no-decision in a duel against Kennesaw ace Kyle Heckathorn (7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 9 K) in the opener. The Owls broke a 6-6 tie with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth in the nightcap.

The Beavers dropped a series against Missouri State in Portland, Ore. OSU trailed 7-6 heading into the eighth inning Friday, when junior C Ryan Ortiz (2-for-5, 3 RBI) delivered a game-winning, two-run double. Sophomore RHP Greg Peavey (5.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K) took the loss in Game 2, which was suspended by rain in the seventh and resumed Sunday. The Bears jumped on junior RHP Jorge Reyes (2 IP, 7 H, 4 ER) in the finale, and the Beavers couldn't come back despite a valiant relief effort from freshman RHP Sam Gaviglio (6.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K).
