Bemidji State reaches 1st Frozen Four
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Tyler Scofield had two goals and an assist, Matt Dalton made 25 saves, and Bemidji State beat Cornell 4-1 on Sunday night in the Midwest Regional final to reach the Frozen Four for the first time.
Bemidji State (20-15-1) will face Miami of Ohio in the national semifinals on Thursday, April 9, at The Verizon Center in Washington. Boston University will play Vermont in the other semifinal.
The fourth-seeded Beavers, 5-1 winners over top-seeded Notre Dame on Saturday, are the first team from College Hockey America to earn a Frozen Four berth.
Scofield, the regional tournament MVP, scored early in the third period to break a 1-1 tie. Matt Francis and Ryan Adams also scored, and Scofield had an empty-net goal.
Sean Collins scored for Cornell (22-10-4).
