Dropped out

Oregon State (17)
Last Week: 1-2
Overall: 24-11, 9-6 in Pac-10 (1-2 vs. Top 25)
Weekend Series: 4-3-1
Oregon State dropped its second straight series and fell into third place in the Pac-10. The Beavers rallied for three in the ninth Saturday against UCLA closer Gavin Brooks. Junior RHP Jorge Reyes (6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K) turned in OSU's only decent start of the weekend on Sunday, but the Beavers made five errors behind him.

San Diego State (19)
Last Week: 2-2
Overall: 28-17, 10-8 in MWC (7-6 vs. Top 25)
Weekend Series: 5-3
For the second week in a row, San Diego State dropped a series against a top MWC contender despite winning the opener behind junior RHP Stephen Strasburg. The Aztecs and Horned Frogs have split the six-game season series, and the last four were intense one-run affairs. Strasburg (7 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 14 K) was nearly untouchable Friday until giving up a three-run homer in the seventh. He improved to 9-0, 1.54 ERA with 135 strikeouts and 13 walks in 70 innings. Strasburg broke the MWC single-season strikeout record, which he set last year and shared with former BYU pitcher Nate Fernley, and also set a new MWC career strikeouts record (315). Friday's crowd of 3,072 fans was the largest to ever attend an SDSU game at an on-campus facility. The Aztecs blew leads of 4-1 and 7-5 on Saturday, and their late rally from a 6-2 deficit Sunday fell short.

Hawaii (20)
Last Week: 2-3
Overall: 26-16, 9-6 in WAC (4-5 vs. Top 25)
Weekend Series: 5-2-1
Hawaii's pitching was ravaged last week, allowing 17 runs in a midweek game against Arizona State and yielding 55 runs in four games against New Mexico State. Hawaii now trails Nevada (which won the head-to-head series 2-1) by percentage points in the WAC. The Rainbows were run-ruled twice on the weekend. Hawaii did get a strong start in Game 3 of the series from junior RHP Nate Klein (6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K), but the Aggies scored seven runs in the eighth to take the lead. Hawaii responded with two in the ninth to force extras, then manufactured a run in the 10th.
