Oklahoma State wins 1,000th dual match
STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State shut out Northern Colorado 44-0 on Friday night to become only the second Division I wrestling program in NCAA history to reach 1,000 wins in dual matches.
Mike Benefiel recorded the only pin for the Cowboys (9-2-1), who joined Iowa State as the only programs with at least 1,000 wins. The Cyclones reached the mark last season with more than twice as many losses along the way.
Oklahoma State is now 1,000-113-23 and has won an NCAA record 34 team national championships.
Clayton Foster and Jordan Oliver notched wins by technical falls while Neil Erisman, Chris Perry, Blake Rosholt and Ladd Rupp won by major decision in the Cowboys' first shutout of the season.
