NEW YORK -- Kayla Hoffman of Alabama has won the Honda Sports Award as the top woman in gymnastics.
Hoffman's 9.95 score in the floor exercise helped Alabama win the NCAA title. Hoffman, of Union, N.J., was the runner-up in the all-around and balance beam in the individual competition.
The team captain led Alabama to the SEC title, winning the vault.
The other finalists were Michigan's Kylee Botterman, UCLA's Brittani McCullough and Penn State's Sharaya Musser. The candidates were selected by the U.S. Elite Coaches Association.
Hoffman becomes eligible for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year honor, which will be awarded on June 27 in New York.
