Michael Chandler commits to Xavier
Over the past few recruiting cycles, a number of big bodies were signed or will sign in the Atlantic 10. From LaSalle sophomore Aaric Murray to George Washington commitment Erik Copes (Philadelphia/Imhotep), the league is slowly getting beefier.
On Sunday, following Xavier's annual Musketeer Madness, Chris Mack's program found itself the proud owner of another space-eater. Michael Chandler (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) pledged his allegiance and will sign on the "X" next month.
The Musketeers continue to bring in quality classes that have them poised to win in the Atlantic 10.

"I felt as though they had the perfect program for me to be successful as a person and to get better as a player," Chandler said. "And it's close to home."
Chandler's pledge is the program's second from the state of Indiana. A day earlier, junior guard D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) popped for the Musketeers. The players further the point that Mack continues to make about adding players from Indiana. Xavier is also firmly entrenched in North Carolina.
Last year, Mack signed wing Jay Canty (Oak Ridge, N.C./Oak Ridge Military). This year the parade of prospects from the Tar Heel State continues in the form of Dezmine Wells (Chatham, Va./Hargrave), who is a powerfully built forward. Xavier's best player in recent memory, New Orleans Hornets forward David West, grew up in Garner, N.C., and Mack and assistant coach Pat Kelsey spent time on the bench at Wake Forest.
The addition of Chandler gives Mack a big body capable of protecting the rim and finishing plays in the paint. Chandler, who is set to graduate from the same high school that kicked out super prospects Greg Oden and Michael Conley, was once committed to Louisville. If he can drum up consistent efforts and bring the intensity he's capable of, Xavier will benefit from his size and could use him as a battering ram in the A-10.
By landing Chandler, Xavier jumps up to No. 10 from No. 19 in the class rankings. The Musketeers also have 2011 commitments from point guard Darwin Davis (Bloomington, Ind./South) and power forward Jalen Reynolds (Stevenson, Mich./Stevenson).
