Florida elevates to No. 7 in latest rankings
The Florida Gators have the ear of the nation's top recruits and snatched one from Miami's class in OLB Ramon Buchanan (Melbourne, Fla./Palm Bay). I suspect the upcoming final weekend of official visits will soon warrant the commitments of a few other top players. In a matter of days, Florida went from six to nine ESPN 150 players and jumped from No. 10 to No. 7 in the rankings.
The latest: Losing Buchanan hurts, but the Canes still have pledges from four of the top seven outside linebackers, including No. 1 OLB Arthur Brown (Wichita, Kan./East) and No. 2 OLB Sean Spence (Miami/Northestern).
25 verbal commitments, nine ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: With Florida State tight ends coach John Lilly reportedly heading to Georgia to replace David Johnson, who left for West Virginia, No. 3 TE Dwayne Allen's (Fayetteville, N.C./Sanford) commitment appears safe.
22 verbal commitments, 10 ESPN 150 prospects
Editor's note/correction: After more research, we have found no substantiated evidence that Jonas Gray (Pontiac, Mich./Detroit Country Day) is looking to switch his commitment to Michigan. It was a journalistic error to report that "whispers were that one-time Nebraska commit Gray may change his mind" and regret the misinformation. The latest: Could push even higher with a few last-minute additions.
18 verbal commitments, eight ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Recent in-state commits FB Jermil Martin (Cleveland/Glenville) and S Zach Domicone (Xenia, Ohio/Beavercreek) fill needs. Still in the mix for No. 1 QB Terrelle Pryor (Jeannette, Pa.) and No. 3 CB Brandon Harris (Miami/BTW).
14 verbal commitments, eight ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Longtime RB commit Joe Adams (Little Rock, Ark./Central Arkansas Christian) reportedly visited Arkansas last weekend, though his first official visit to USC is scheduled for this upcoming weekend.
19 verbal commitments, eight ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Added teammates ESPN 150 WR Jameel Owens and Stacy McGee (Muskogee, Okla.) and two junior college commits.
21 verbal commitments, 10 ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Besides Buchanan, added ESPN 150 OLB Lerentee McCray (Dunnellon, Fla.), CB Adrian Bushell (DeSoto, Texas), and ILB/H-back T.J. Pridemore (Buford, Ga.).
26 verbal commitments, four ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: No. 1 WR Julio Jones (Foley, Ala.) remains the top target. The departures of coaches Major Applewhite and Ron Middleton have yet to cause decommitments. The reason, according to the Montgomery Advertiser, is that Saban uses multiple coaches with each prospect during the process. It's a nice insurance policy that's now paying dividends.
20 verbal commitments, six ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Jamie Harper's high school teammate Daniel Andrews (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian) recently committed, so the star running back may follow.
20 verbal commitments, nine ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Seven prospects enrolled early and are already on campus. No. 2 RB Darrell Scott (Moorpark, Calif./Saint Bonaventure) looks to be down to Texas and Colorado.
23 verbal commitments, four ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Ramped up recruiting of Terrelle Pryor following the U.S. Army Game. Still in the mix for many top undecided prospects.
19 verbal commitments, five ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Rich Rodriguez's unquestioned top target is Pryor. Longtime commit Christian Wilson (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montou) may be looking at other schools, including Boston College and North Carolina.
21 verbal commitments, five ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: The Zebrie Sanders (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont Senior) saga came to an end with his recent pledge to the Seminoles.
21 verbal commitments, four ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Lost ESPN 150 Uona Kaveinga (Lawndale, Calif./Leuzinger) to BYU. ESPN 150 RB Aundre Dean (Katy, Texas) visited Arkansas and Alabama and looks to be signing elsewhere.
25 verbal commitments, three ESPN 150 prospects
The latest: Added DE Eric Harper (Marrero, La./John Ehret), who previously was committed to Nebraska and Louisiana Tech. Reportedly pulled scholarship for DE Kapron Lewis-Moore (Weatherford, Texas) after he visited other schools.
On the cusp: Oregon, Pittsburgh, Colorado, Virginia Tech and Illinois.
