Gators take big recuiting bite

In a huge recruiting weekend, the Florida Gators have pledges from Top 150 offensive lineman Drew Miller of Sarasota-Riverview, Fla., over Florida State, Georgia, Miami-Florida and Tennessee, among over 30 others; and Top 150 defensive back/receiver McIntosh Nicolas of Immokalee, Fla., over Miami-Florida, LSU, Michigan State, Florida State and Pittsburgh;

The Gators also gained Super Prospect tight end Tate Casey of Longview, Tex., over Arizona, Arkansas, LSU and UCLA; and Super Prospect offensive lineman Jim Tartt of Crawfordville-Wakulla, Fla., over Florida State and Clemson.

One of the nation's top receivers, Early Doucet of St. Martinville, La., has committed to the LSU Tigers over Miami-Florida. The Tigers recently gained Top 150 linebacker Luke Sanders of West Monroe, La., over Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Auburn and Mississippi, among many others.

Kellen Freeman-Davis of Adrian, Mich., rated as one of the top tight ends in Class 2004, has committed to the Michigan State Spartans over Notre Dame, Michigan, Purdue and Northwestern, among many others.

Super Prospect offensive lineman Seth Olsen of Omaha-Millard North, Neb., has decommitted from Nebraska and will play for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Ohio State pledged defensive lineman Alex Barrow of Dublin-Coffman, Ohio, over Maryland, Pittsburgh, Michigan State and Northwestern.

Michigan added linebacker John Thompson of Detroit-Crockett, Mich., over Florida, Tennessee, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Penn State signed defensive lineman Elijah Robinson of Camden-Wilson, NJ., who picked Tulane in Class 2003, but did not qualify. The Nittany Lions recently gained defensive lineman Jimmy Shaw of Spring Grove, Pa., who is transfering after starting for Rice this past season.

Offensive lineman Jim Jadron of Joliet-Catholic, Ill., picked Indiana over Illinois and Colorado.

Linebacker Jammar Crane of Garland, Tex., who had been considering Kansas, is a firm commitment for Wisconsin. The Badgers recently added receiver Terrence Nunn of Houston-Cypress Falls, Tex., who decommitted from Nebraska.

Iowa State has a commitment from running back Brandon Gunn of Omaha-Central, Neb., over Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas State, Colorado, Kansas, UCLA and Wyoming.

Athlete Ramarcus Brown of East Point/Tri-Cities, Ga., who had committed to Oklahoma, is waivering between the Sooners and Georgia.

Missouri has pledged defensive lineman Calcius Williams of Denton-Ryan, Tex., over TCU.

Kansas gained athlete Gary Green II of San Antonio-Madison, Tex., over UCLA, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh and Texas Tech.

Oklahoma State pledged offensive lineman Jeray Chatham of Spring-Westfield, Tex., over Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Iowa State and Missouri.

Miami-Florida has pledged linebacker Romeo Davis of Miami-Northwestern, Fla. Defensive back J.R. Bryant of Miami-Killian, Fla., decommitted from the Canes and is looking at Florida State, Miami, Florida, Rutgers and North Carolina State.

Pittsburgh has pledged running back Brandon Mason of Phillipsburg, NJ.

North Carolina has commitments from defensive back Stephen Green of Little Rock-Pulaski County, Ark; receiver Del Roberts of Tallahassee-Godby, Fla; defensive back Daniel Phelps of Sarasota-Booker, Fla; running back Antwain Carey of Chesapeake-Deep Creek, Va; and receiver Brooks Foster of Boiling Springs, SC. The Heels recently signed defensive lineman Khalif Mitchell of Virginia Beach, Va/Hargrave MA, Va; defensive lineman Terry Hunter of Wendell, NC/Hargrave MA, Va; defensive back Gerald Sensabaugh of Kingsport, Tenn/East Tennessee State; and tight end Scott Brumett of Pioneer, Tenn/East Tennessee State.

Virginia added defensive back Ahamad Bradshaw of Bluefield-Graham, Va., over West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Clemson has commitments from running back/defensive back Chris Clemons of Arcadia-DeSoto, Fla; offensive lineman Barry Richardson of Mt. Pleasant-Wando, SC; receiver/defensive back Phillip Morris of Timmonsville, SC; and defensive back Adrian Kindred of Opelika, Ala., over Southern Mississippi and Louisville.

Linebacker Eric Berry of Suffolk-Nansemond River, Va., chose Wake Forest over Clemson.

Mississippi has a verbal from offensive/defensive lineman Lamar Divens of Fayetteville-Lincoln County, Tenn; and re-signed defensive lineman Chris Herring of Courtland-South Panola, Miss/Mississippi/Northwest Mississippi CC, Miss., who played in nine games for the Rebels during 2002 as a freshman.

Quarterback Patrick Pinkney of Fayetteville-Pine Forest, NC., is a commitment for East Carolina.
