Sophomore center/forward Michael Thompson of Joliet-Providence Catholic, Ill., who recently announced he would transfer from Duke, has decided on Northwestern. He also considered Iowa State and Texas.

The former McDonald's All-American was concerned with a lack of playing time after seeing action in three of four games, averaging 2.3 points and 0.3 rebounds in 11 total minutes. Thompson averaged 1.5 points and 0.5 rebounds in 16 games last season as a true freshman.

Sophomore center/forward Charles Bass of University Park/Crete-Monee, Ill., has transfered from Ohio State to Ball State. He played in two games this season for the Buckeyes without scoring.
