Georgia Tech picks up three commitments

Georgia Tech has a commitment from Top 150 receiver Calvin Johnson of Tyrone-Sandy Creek, Ga., over Georgia, Florida, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. The Yellow Jackets also added defensive back/receiver Jarrell Johnson of St. Louis-Gateway, Mo; and offensive lineman Andrew Gardner of Tyrone-Sandy Creek, Ga.

The Florida Gators pledged huge offensive lineman Jason Watkins of Lakeland-Lake Gibson, Fla., over LSU, Auburn, Michigan State and Oklahoma. The Gators recently gained Top 150 offensive lineman Drew Miller of Sarasota-Riverview, Fla., over Florida State, Georgia, Miami-Florida and Tennessee, among over 30 others; Top 150 defensive back/receiver McIntosh Nicolas of Immokalee, Fla., over Miami-Florida, LSU, Michigan State, Florida State and Pittsburgh; tight end Tate Casey of Longview, Tex., over Arizona, Arkansas, LSU and UCLA; and offensive lineman Jim Tartt of Crawfordville-Wakulla, Fla., over Florida State and Clemson.

Defensive lineman Daniel Zynn of College of the Canyons, Cal., committed to Michigan State The Spartans recently gained Kellen Freeman-Davis of Adrian, Mich., rated as one of the top tight ends in Class 2004, over Notre Dame, Michigan, Purdue and Northwestern, among many others.

Athlete Ramarcus Brown of East Point/Tri-Cities, Ga., remains committed to Oklahoma after waivering between the Sooners and Georgia.

Junior reserve quarterback Fabian Walker of Americus, Ga/Jones CC, Miss., is transfering from Florida State to Valdosta State.

Duke has offensive lineman Izzy Bauta of Brooklyn-Poly Prep, NY., over Ohio State, Maryland, South Florida and Rutgers; and athlete Ronnie Drummer of Salinas-North Salinas, Cal.

Georgia has a commitment from defensive lineman Brandon Lang of Tucker, Ga., over Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska and North Carolina. The Bulldogs recently added receiver Demiko Goodman of Newnan, Ga., over Auburn, Florida, Maryland, Ohio State and South Carolina.

Alabama pledged receiver Marcel Stamps of Brantley, Ala., over Auburn, Mississippi State and Troy State; and linebacker Jake Wingo of Tuscaloosa-Hillcrest, Ala., over Clemson. The Tide recently gained defensive lineman Brandon Fanney of Morristown-West, Tenn., over Virginia and Virginia Tech; defensive back Marcus Carter of Fort Payne, Ala., who decommitted from Auburn; and offensive lineman Antoine Caldwell of Montgomery-Lee, Ala.

Linebacker/defensive lineman Johnny Williams of Neptune Beach-Fletcher, Fla., is headed to Kentucky over Georgia Tech, Duke, Clemson, Bowling Green and South Florida.

Mississippi has verbals from defensive lineman Peria Jerry, defensive back JaMarca Sanford and linebacker Reterio Brown, all from Batesville-South Panola, Miss. The Rebels recently gained offensive/defensive lineman Lamar Divens of Fayetteville-Lincoln County, Tenn; and re-signed defensive lineman Chris Herring of Courtland-South Panola, Miss/Mississippi/Northwest Mississippi CC, Miss., who played in nine games for the Rebels during 2002 as a freshman.

Stanford has pledged tight end/defensive lineman Pannel Egboh of Mesquite-North Mesquite, Tex., over Arizona, Duke and Colorado State.

Arizona has pledged defensive lineman McCollins Umeh of Houston-Klein-Forest, Tex., who decommitted from Kansas State. The Wildcats recently gained defensive lineman Yaniv Barnett of Schertz-Clemens, Tex., over Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Kansas and Missouri.

Redshirt-sophomore running back Tyler Ebell of Ventura, Cal., recently announced he was transfering from UCLA. He started eight games and rushed for 501 yards with two touchdowns this past season.
