Trojans, Tigers add to highly-regarded classes

Considered the nation's top inside linebacker, Keith Rivers of Lake Mary, Fla., has given a commitment to the USC Trojans over Florida. Among many others were Miami-Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Oklahoma.

LSU and head coach Nick Saban have gained one of the nation's top defensive linemen in Marlon Favorite of Harvey-West Jefferson, La., over Miami-Florida, Southern California, Colorado and Tulane. The Tigers recently added top receiver Early Doucet of St. Martinville, La., over Miami-Florida.

The Buckeyes recently gained defensive linemen Vernon Gholston of Detroit-Cass Tech, Mich., over Michigan, Michigan State and Iowa; and Alex Barrow of Dublin-Coffman, Ohio, over Maryland, Pittsburgh, Michigan State and Northwestern.

Texas A&M has a commitment from linebacker Terrence Smith of Northwest Mississippi CC, Miss., over Alabama, TCU and Texas Tech.

Iowa State has a commitment from running back Tyease Thompson of Lakeland-Jenkins, Fla., over Pittsburgh, LSU, South Florida and UConn. The Cyclones recently gained running back Brandon Gunn of Omaha-Central, Neb., over Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas State, Colorado, Kansas, UCLA and Wyoming.

Kansas State added receiver/defensive back Cedric Wilson of Fort Pierce-John Carroll, Fla., over West Virginia and Syracuse.

Texas Tech added offensive lineman Cody Baker of Rowlett, Tex., over interest from Oklahoma State; and linebacker Marcus Smith of Conroe-Oak Ridge, Tex., over Iowa State and Houston.

Athlete Ramarcus Brown of East Point/Tri-Cities, Ga., has committed/decommitted from Oklahoma, committed/decommitted from Georgia/recommitted/decommitted from Oklahoma.

Miami-Florida has pledged defensive lineman Joe Joseph of Orlando-Oak Ridge, Fla., over Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina. The Canes recently gained linebacker Romeo Davis of Miami-Northwestern, Fla. Defensive back J.R. Bryant of Miami-Killian, Fla., decommitted from the Canes and is looking at Florida State, Miami, Florida, Rutgers and North Carolina State.

Rutgers pledged twin defensive/offensive linemen Darren and Joe Salinardi of Jersey City-Hudson Catholic, NJ., over South Carolina, Clemson, Indiana and UConn. Rutgers recently gained offensive lineman Akeem Robinson of Miami-Carol City, Fla.

Temple has a commitment from linebacker Rick Costa of Delran-Holy Cross, NJ.

Clemson has a commitment from receiver Mike McIntosh of Jacksonville-First Coast, Fla., over Florida, Florida State, Auburn and LSU. The Tigers recently gained defensive lineman Dorrel Scott of Columbia-Ridge View, SC., over Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Iowa and Nebraska.

Defensive lineman Anthony Davis of Columbia-Spring Valley, SC., chose Wake Forest over Clemson, Auburn, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. The Demon Deacons recently gained linebacker Eric Berry of Suffolk-Nansemond River, Va.

Duke has pledged linebacker/defensive back Charles Robinson of Sarasota-Riverview, Fla. The Blue Devils recently gained offensive lineman Izzy Bauta of Brooklyn-Poly Prep, NY., over Ohio State, Maryland, South Florida and Rutgers; and athlete Ronnie Drummer of Salinas-North Salinas, Cal.

Receiver Lonnell Dewalt of Bowling Green-Warren Central, Kty., is headed to Kentucky over Louisville, Auburn and Western Kentucky. The Wildcats recently gained linebacker/defensive lineman Johnny Williams of Neptune Beach-Fletcher, Fla., over Georgia Tech, Duke, Clemson, Bowling Green and South Florida.

Arkansas gained receiver Jamaal Anderson of Little Rock-Parkview, Ark., over Alabama, Colorado, Mississippi and Florida.
