Gators, Panthers land top linebackers

Top 150 defensive lineman Derrick Harvey of Greenbelt-Eleanor Roosevelt, Md., has announced for the Florida Gators over Maryland, Ohio State and Tennessee.

The Florida State Seminoles have pledged Top 150 linebacker Rodney Gallon of Tallahassee-Lincoln, Fla., over Auburn, Nebraska and Tennessee. The Seminoles recently gained Top 150 linebackers Jae Thaxton of Hartwell-Hart County, Ga., and Lawrence Timmons of Florence-Wilson, SC.

Top 150 offensive lineman Calvin Darity of Tallahassee-Lincoln, Fla., picked North Carolina over Florida State, LSU, Nebraska and Tennessee.

South Carolina has a pledge from Top 150 offensive lineman James Thompson of Sumter, SC., over Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina, Maryland and North Carolina State. The Gamecocks also gained receiver Tremel Kline of Beaufort-Battery Creek, SC., over Clemson and North Carolina.

Top 150 defensive lineman Olu Hall of Fairfax-Robinson, Va., committed to Virginia over Ohio State, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech and Purdue. The Cavaliers recently gained defensive lineman Clint Sintim of Woodbridge/Gar-Field, Va., over Virginia Tech, Maryland, Ohio State and Tennessee.

Super Prospect receiver/defensive back Devon Lyons of Pittsburgh-Woodland Hills, Pa., announced for the Ohio State Buckeyes over Miami-Florida. Among others were Notre Dame, Michigan and Michigan State. The Bucks recently gained linebacker/defensive lineman Curtis Terry of Cleveland-Glenville, Ohio, over Cincinnati and Akron.

The Tennessee Vols pledged Super Prospect linebacker Jerod Mayo of Hampton-Kecoughtan, Va., over North Carolina State, Purdue, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Vols recently gained defensive back Inquoris Johnson of Atlanta-Crim, Ga., over Mississippi State.

Top 150 linebacker Vernon Smith of Fort Lauderdale-Dillard, Fla., picked Pittsburgh.

Colorado has a soft pledge from defensive lineman Remi Ayodele of Grand Prairie-South Grand Prairie, Tex/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Okla., over Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have regained receiver Terrence Nunn of Houston-Cypress Falls, Tex., who decommitted from Wisconsin. Nebraska recently added quarterback Jordan Adams of Santee-West Hills, Cal/Grossmont CC, Cal.

Iowa State has a pledge from receiver/defensive back Chris Brown of Gainesville, Tex.

Kansas State added offensive lineman Brad Rooker of Omaha-Millard North, Neb., over Kansas, Wyoming and Iowa State; and defensive lineman Vladimir Faustin of Miami-Pace, Fla. The Wildcats recently gained offensive lineman Justin D'Arcy of Cabrillo CC, Cal; defensive back Surrell Davis of College of San Mateo, Cal; and defensive lineman Micah Howeth of Dallas-White, Tex.

Miami-Florida added offensive lineman Josh Kerr of Strongsville, Ohio. The Canes recently gained receiver Khalil Jones of Miami-Northwestern, Fla., over Indiana, Iowa, Pittsburgh and South Florida; and tight end Cedric Hill of Valdosta, Ga.

Virginia Tech gained linebacker/defensive lineman Maurice Reevey of Fork Union MA, Va., over Clemson, Pittsburgh and West Virginia. The Hokies recently gained Super Prospect defensive lineman Carl Howard of Aberdeen-Matawan Regional, NJ., over North Carolina State, Rutgers, Maryland, Miami-Florida and Michigan State.

Maryland has running back Matt Deese of McLeansville-Northeast Guilford, NC and tight end/defensive lineman Jason Goode of Woodlawn, Md., over Boston College and Colorado.

North Carolina State has a pledge from defensive back Jeremy Gray of Opelika, Ala., over Auburn and Mississippi State. The Wolfpack recently gained receiver/defensive back Dajuan Morgan of Riviera Beach-Suncoast, Fla., whose offer/commitment was withdrawn by Ohio State.

Mississippi pledged defensive lineman Dion Gales of LaPlace-Kennedy, La., over Miami-Florida and LSU; and defensive back Terrell Jackson of Puckett, Miss. Running back Lavarus Giles of Benoit-Brooks, Miss., who decommitted from Mississippi for Alabama, has recommitted to the Rebels.

Vanderbilt gained kicker Daniel Lee of Riverside-Park Hill, Mo.

Auburn pledged offensive lineman John Watts of Russellville, Ala; defensive back/receiver Anthony Campbell of Hialeah, Fla., who decommitted from Mississippi; and offensive lineman Jason Bosley of Huntsville-Grissom, Ala. The Tigers recently gained linebacker/defensive back Steve Gandy of Waynesboro-Wayne County, Miss; plus defensive linemen Korey Raymond of Reserve-East St. John, La; Tyronne Green of Pensacola-Woodham, Fla; and Chris Browder of Camden-Wilcox Central, Ala/Southwest Mississipi CC, Miss.

Mississippi State added linebacker Damien Huren of Southwest Mississippi CC, Miss; and receiver/defensive back Kenny McClellan of Tulsa-Booker T. Washington, Okla.

Kentucky snared receiver Aubrey White of Lexington-Henry Clay, Kty., over Mississipi State, Louisville and Cincinnati.
