Sooners get good hands while Duke gets two QBs

The Oklahoma Sooners have a commitment from Top 150 receiver Eric Huggins of Conway, SC., over offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee and Southern California, among many others.

Defensive back Johnny Sears of Fresno-Edison, Cal., has committed to the Michigan Wolverines.

Defensive lineman/tight end Adam Grant of Puyallup, Wash., committed to Washington.

Duke gained commitments from quarterbacks Joe Cox of Charlotte-Independence, NC., who passed for 3983 yards and 43 touchdowns as a junior; and Gene Delle Donne of Wilmington-Salesianum, Del.

Virginia Tech has a commitment from offensive lineman Robert Norris of Hyattsville-DeMatha Catholic, Md., over Syracuse and Maryland. The Hokies recently gained running back Kenny Jefferson of Hyattsville-DeMatha Catholic, Md; and linebacker Demetrius Taylor of Virginia Beach-Kellam, Va.

Illinois gained a commitment from linebacker Travis Barr of Alpharetta-Chattahoochee, Ga., over Rice.

Texas has its fourth commitment in linebacker/defensive lineman Chris Brown of Texarkana, Tex., over Arizona, Arkansas, Houston, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and TCU, among others.

Texas A&M has its ninth commitment in defensive back/receiver Arkeith Brown of El Campo, Tex.

Oklahoma State pledged defensive lineman/linebacker Jarryl Jefferson of New Orleans-St. Augustine, La., over Auburn and UCLA.

West Virginia pledged receiver Ryan Dawson of Parkersburg-South, WVa.

Miami-Florida has a commitment from Top 150 tight end Martellus Bennett of Houston-Aleif Taylor, Tex., over Arizona, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma State, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M and UCLA, among many others.

North Carolina added Class 2004 running back Vince Wilson of Daytona Beach-Mainland, Fla., for this upcoming season.

Georgia Tech gained a commitment from defensive back Tony Clark of Garden City-Groves, Ga., over Clemson.

Clemson has a commitment from offensive lineman Barry Humphries of Honea Path/Belton-Honea Path, SC., over North Carolina, Maryland, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and Marshall.

Florida State pledged running back/athlete Russell Ball of LaMarque, Tex., over Texas A&M, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, BYU, SMU, Houston and Texas Tech, among others.

TCU has a commitment from runing back Joseph Turner of Austin-LBJ, Tex.

Louisville pledged receiver Maurice Grinter of Louisville-Fairdale, Kty., who will also walk-on for basketball. The Cards recently gained defensive back Darius Mann of Ramsey-Don Bosco, NJ., over Wisconsin, Alabama, Iowa, Indiana and UConn.
