Linebacker commits to Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns have pledged linebacker Brandon Duncan of Garland-Lakeview Centennial, Tex., over Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, among others.

Receiver Kevin Ogletree of St. Albans-Holy Cross, NY., has committed to Virginia over Syracuse, Wisconsin and Boston College. The Cavs, who now have 15 commitments, recently gained Class 2005 Top 150 offensive linemen, Eugene Monroe of Plainfield, NJ., over Florida State, Miami-Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Southern California, Michigan, LSU, Maryland, Rutgers, Boston College, Michigan State and Nebraska, among many others.

Ohio State added Class 2004 kicker/punter Jonathan Skeete of Gahanna-Lincoln, Ohio, for this fall.

Rumored for weeks to have secretly committed to the Bears, quarterback Kyle Reed of Oakland-McClymonds, Cal., has formerly announced for California.

Texas Tech pledged defensive back/linebacker Jordan Thomas of Keller, Tex.

Baylor pledged tight end Jason Lamb of Richardson-Berkner, Tex., over Mississippi State, North Carolina, Tulsa and Wyoming. The Bears recently gained receiver/defensive back Carl Sims of Waco, Tex., and tight end Justin Akers of Deer Park, Tex.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have commitments from receivers Trey Stross of Avon Lake, Ohio, over West Virginia, Boston College, Ohio State, Maryland, Syracuse, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana and Kentucky, among others; and Marcus Wilson of Cherry Hill-Camden Catholic, NJ., over Penn State, Ohio State, Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, Maryland, North Carolina and Rutgers, among others.

Texas A&M has its 10th commitment in defensive lineman Paul Freeney of Aldine-Eisenhower, Tex., over Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Baylor and Utah.

Missouri has a commitment from defensive lineman Tarell Corby of Kansas City-North, Mo., over Kansas and Iowa.

Class 2005 defensive lineman Roy Miller of Killeen-Shoemaker, Tex., is headed to the Oklahoma Sooners. He also considered Arkansas, Baylor, BYU, Houston, Texas, Texas Tech and SMU, among many others.

Oklahoma State has pledged linebacker Brady Barree and running back Kevin White, both from DeSoto, Tex. The Cowboys recently gained offensive lineman Jeremy Broadway of Houston-Washington, Tex., over Arizona and Syracuse; defensive lineman Willie Williams of Dearing, Ga/Hutchinson CC, Kan; defensive lineman Josh Pinaire of Derby, Kan/Hutchinson CC, Kan; and receiver Tevin Williams of Stillwater, Okla/Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Okla.

Nebraska has a commitment from Top 150 quarterback Harrison Beck of Clearwater-Countryside, Fla., over Florida, Michigan, Mississippi and North Carolina State, among many others. The Huskers recently gained linebacker Nick Covey of Glendale-Mountain Ridge, Ariz., over Washington State.

Kansas has picked up a commitment from offensive lineman Jose Rodriguez of LaPuente-Bishop Amat, Cal. His brother, Cesar, is a redshirt-freshman for the Jayhawks.

Rutgers has a commitment from defensive back/linebacker Damaso Munoz of Miami-Southridge, Fla.

Clemson has a commitment from Top 150 receiver Rendrick Taylor of Bennettsville-Marlboro County, SC., over Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida State, Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Stanford, Georgia Tech and Duke, among others. Defensive back/receiver Ramon McElrathbey of Atlanta-Mays, Ga., chose the Tigers, but quickly decommitted. The Tigers recently gained receiver/defensive back Tyler Grisham of Birmingham-Spain Park, Ala.

North Carolina has commitments from offensive lineman Andre Barbour of Atlanta-North Springs, Ga; defensive back Bryan Dixon of Tabor City-South Columbus, NC; and running back/linebacker Kennedy Tinsley of Greensboro-Dudley, NC. The Heels recently added Class 2004 running back Vince Wilson of Daytona Beach-Mainland, Fla., for this upcoming season.

Class 2005 quarterback Joe Cox of Charlotte-Independence, NC., has decommitted from Duke for the Georgia Bulldogs. He passed for 3983 yards and 43 touchdowns as a junior.

Vanderbilt has a commitment from quarterback Mackenzi Adams of Tulsa-Union, Okla.

Class 2005 quarterback Joe Cox of Charlotte-Independence, NC., has decommitted from Duke for the Georgia Bulldogs. He passed for 3983 yards and 43 touchdowns as a junior.

Houston pledged defensive/offensive lineman Quinten Smith and defensive back Quinte Williams, both from Houston-Yates, Tex. The Cougars recently gained quarterback Clint Walraven of Alvarado, Tex.

TCU pledged running back Chris Smith of Navasota, Tex., over Baylor.

Arizona has a commitment from quarterback William Tuitama of Stockton-St. Mary's, Cal., over Nebraska and Washington. His uncle is USC and Miami Dolphin linebacker Junior Seau.

UCLA has a commitment from defensive back Robert Kibble of Houston-Westfield, Tex., over Miami-Florida, Houston, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, SMU, Northwestern and Iowa State.

Class 2004 defensive lineman Rashaad Goodrum of Fayetteville-Pine Forest, NC/Los Angeles Valley CC, Cal., who had earlier chosen Washington, is headed to the USC Trojans.

Class 2004 running back Gartrell Shavers of Miami-Springs, Fla., is headed to Colorado State for this fall.
