DL Lewis selects Texas over Florida State

Top 150 defensive lineman Aaron Lewis of Albuquerque-LaCueva, NM., has chosen Texas over Florida State. Among others were Georgia Tech and Texas Tech.

Miami-Florida has pledged Class 2005 defensive back Randy Phillips of Belle Glade-Glades Central, Fla.

Arizona has a Class 2005 commitment from defensive lineman Anthony Sapa of Moreno Valley, Cal/Riverside CC, Cal., over Arizona State, Oregon State and Nebraska. The Wildcats recently gained defensive back Corey Hall of DeSoto, Tex.

Syracuse has Class 2005 commitments from defensive lineman Andrew Lewis and defensive back Derek Bailey, both from Clifton-Centreville, Va. The Orange recently gained quarterback Adam Hearns of Lansdale-North Penn, Pa.

Texas Tech has defensive back LaShawn Vation of Irving-MacArthur, Tex.

Wake Forest has gained tight end/defensive lineman Ben Wooster of Norcross-Greater Atlanta Christian, Ga; receiver Jonathan Jones of Madisonville-Sequoia, Tenn; tight end Ted Randolph of Mocksville-Davie County, NC; and receiver E.J. Wynn of Waldorf-St. John's, Md.

Memphis has a pledge from Class 2005 athlete Billy Barefield of Shreveport-Evangel Christian, La.

Bowling Green has a pledge from Class 2005 quarterback Kevin Leady of Pemberville-Eatwood, Ohio, over Eastern Michigan.

Top 150 quarterback Rob Schoenhoft, a Class 2005 prospect from Cincinnati-Xavier, Ohio, is set to announce between Ohio State and Michigan. Among many others were Florida, LSU, Michigan State and Notre Dame.

Super Prospect quarterback Jonathan Garner of Daytona Beach-Mainland, Fla., is near a decision between Stanford, Florida, Miami-Florida, Mississippi and Memphis.

Notre Dame has added five Class 2005 verbals, including touted quarterback Evan Sharpley of Marshall, Mich., over Iowa, LSU and Wisconsin; receiver David Nelson of Wichita Falls-Rider, Tex., over Nebraska and Kansas State; receiver David Grimes of Detroit-DePorres, Mich., over Iowa and Wisconsin; plus linebackers Scott Smith of Highland Park, Ill., over Illinois, Michigan State and UCLA, among many others; and Kevin Washington of Sugar Land, Tex., over Wisconsin, Northwestern and Houston.

Navy pledged quarterback Andrew Lair of New Orleans-Brother Martin, La.

Top 150 offensive lineman Kevin Bemoll of Mission Viejo, Cal., has chosen Ohio State over Florida, LSU and Miami-Florida, among many others. He joins teammate defensive lineman Ryan Williams, who had earlier picked the Buckeyes.

Michigan State pledged linebacker/running back Andrew Hawken of Grandville, Mich., over Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

The Oklahoma Sooners pledged defensive lineman Billy Blackard of Claremore, Okla.

Defensive back Ricky Price of Houston-Cy Falls, Tex., is headed to Missouri. Among others were Wisconsin, Houston, Kansas and Colorado State.

Oklahoma State has gained Class 2005 commitments from defensive back T.J. Bell of DeSoto, Tex; and linebacker Eric Preast of Sulphur, Okla. The Cowboys recently gained Class 2004 offensive lineman Jeremy Palmoore of Memphis-Hamilton, Tenn/Hargrave MA, Va., who originally chose Arkansas.

West Virginia pledged receiver/defensive back Jeremy Bruce of Beaver Falls-Blackhawk, Pa. The Mountaineers recently gained linebacker Zac Cooper of Weirton-Weir, WVa; and quarterback Jarrett Brown of West Palm Beach-Palm Beach Lakes, Fla.

Pittsburgh signed two late Class 2004 prospects in receiver Jason Gaffney of Oakland-Hayward, Cal/Laney CC, Cal; and offensive lineman Dominic Williams of Colorado Springs-Harrison, Colo/Air Force Prep.

ACC List

Clemson has a commitment from offensive lineman Quentez Ruffin of Tallahassee-Leon, Fla., over LSU, North Carolina State, Kansas State, South Carolina and Central Florida. The Tigers recently gained defensive back Hadrian Lewis of Goose Creek-Stratford, SC; and tight end Paul Muse of Jacksonville-First Coast, Fla.

Virginia has its 19th Class 2005 commitment in linebacker Darryl Gresham Jr. of Roanoke-William Fleming, Va., over Clemson, Virginia Tech, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida, among others.

North Carolina pledged Class 2005 receiver Brandon Tate of Burlington-Cummings, NC., over West Virginia and East Carolina.

Georgia Tech has gained Class 2005 commitments from defensive lineman Brad Sellers of Arlington-Bowie, Tex., over Duke and Toledo; and defensive back Jahi' Word-Daniels of Hoover, Ala., over Duke, Louisville and Vanderbilt.

Tennessee has its 5th pledge in Class 2005 receiver/defensive back Ricardo Kemp of Warren, Ark.

The Florida Gators have a pledge from Class 2005 receiver Louis Murphy of St. Petersburg-Lakewood, Fla., over Maryland, Iowa, Duke, South Florida and Louisville. The Gators recently gained four outstanding commitments in Top 150 defensive back Avery Atkins of Daytona Beach-Mainland, Fla; Top 150 defensive back Demetrice Morley of Miami-Killian, Fla; Super Prospect defensive lineman Vladimir Richard of Sunrise-Piper, Fla; and Super Prospect linebacker/defensive lineman Gerald Williams of Lauderdale Lakes-Anderson, Fla.

Mississippi pledged receiver J.D. Lawhorn of Memphis-University, Tenn., who had 65 receptions as a junior.

Alabama has a late signee for Class 2004 in defensive back Jeffrey Dukes of Oxford-Lafayette County, Miss/Northwest Mississippi CC, Miss.
