Schoenhoft selects Buckeyes over Wolverines

Top 150 quarterback Rob Schoenhoft of Cincinnati-Xavier, Ohio, has committed to Ohio State over Michigan. Among many others were Florida, LSU, Michigan State and Notre Dame.

The Buckeyes now have five Top 150 verbals, including three offensive linemen. OSU recently gained outstanding Kevin Bemoll, an offensive lineman from Mission Viejo, Cal., over Florida, LSU and Miami-Florida, among many others. He joins teammate defensive lineman Ryan Williams, who had earlier picked the Buckeyes.

Super Prospect quarterback Jonathan Garner of Daytona Beach-Mainland, Fla., has chosen Florida over Stanford, Miami-Florida, Mississippi and Memphis.

Boston College has pledged offensive lineman Austin Giles of Marshfield, Mass., over Mississippi State.

Texas Tech has pledged linebacker Ryan Hale of Baytown-Lee, Tex. The Red Raiders recently gained defensive back LaShawn Vation of Irving-MacArthur, Tex.

Wake Forest has pledged running back/tight end Mike Rinfrette of Bunn, NC., over North Carolina and Vanderbilt. The Demon Deacons recently gained offensive lineman Trey Bailey of Duncan-Byrnes, SC; defensive back Channing Schofield of Wagener/Wagener-Salley, SC; quarterback Brett Hodges of Winter Springs, Fla; tight end/defensive lineman Ben Wooster of Norcross-Greater Atlanta Christian, Ga; receiver Jonathan Jones of Madisonville-Sequoia, Tenn; tight end Ted Randolph of Mocksville-Davie County, NC; and receiver E.J. Wynn of Waldorf-St. John's, Md.

Offensive lineman Chris Hall of Irving, Tex., has decommitted from SMU. He is considering offers from Florida, Iowa, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.

Notre Dame has added five Class 2005 verbals, including touted quarterback Evan Sharpley of Marshall, Mich., over Iowa, LSU and Wisconsin; receiver David Nelson of Wichita Falls-Rider, Tex., over Nebraska and Kansas State; receiver David Grimes of Detroit-DePorres, Mich., over Iowa and Wisconsin; plus linebackers Scott Smith of Highland Park, Ill., over Illinois, Michigan State and UCLA, among many others; and Kevin Washington of Sugar Land, Tex., over Wisconsin, Northwestern and Houston.

The Iowa Hawkeyes have pledged Class 2005 linebacker B.J. Travers of Westlake, Ohio, over offers from Southern California, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Kentucky, Syracuse, Indiana and West Virginia, among many others.

Michigan State pledged linebacker/running back Andrew Hawken of Grandville, Mich., over Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

The Oklahoma Sooners have pledged touted defensive back Keenan Clayton of Sulphur Springs, Tex., over Texas A&M, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas State, LSU and Oklahoma State, among others. Also headed for the Sooners are Top 150 receiver Malcolm Kelly of Longview, Tex., over Kansas State, LSU, Miami-Florida, Texas and Texas Tech, among others; and offensive lineman Ben Barresi of Edmond-North, Okla., over Oklahoma State and Wyoming. Kelly joins earlier outstanding receiver commitments from Manuel Johnson of Gilmer, Tex., and Eric Huggins of Conway, S.C. The Sooners recently gained defensive lineman Billy Blackard of Claremore, Okla.

Oklahoma State has a commitment from running back LaMark Carter of Arlington-Lamar, Tex., over Arkansas and Kansas.

Top 150 defensive lineman Aaron Lewis of Albuquerque-LaCueva, NM., has chosen Texas over Florida State. Among others were Georgia Tech and Texas Tech.

Defensive back Ricky Price of Houston-Cy Falls, Tex., is headed to Missouri. Among others were Wisconsin, Houston, Kansas and Colorado State.

West Virginia pledged offensive lineman Frank Carduff of Shenandoah-Shenandoah Valley, Pa. The Mountaineers recently gained receiver/defensive back Jeremy Bruce of Beaver Falls-Blackhawk, Pa.

Syracuse has Class 2005 commitments from defensive lineman Andrew Lewis and defensive back Derek Bailey, both from Clifton-Centreville, Va. The Orange recently gained quarterback Adam Hearns of Lansdale-North Penn, Pa.

Clemson has a commitment from offensive lineman Jamarcus Grant of Mullins, SC., over South Carolina. The Tigers recently gained offensive lineman Thomas Austin of Camden, SC., over Maryland, Vanderbilt, Penn State, South Carolina and Wake Forest.

Offensive lineman Zach Marshall of Mason, Ohio, has chosen Maryland over Michigan State, Pittsburgh and Boston College.

Miami-Florida has pledged Class 2005 defensive back Randy Phillips of Belle Glade-Glades Central, Fla.

Alabama has pledged Class 2004 linebacker/defensive lineman Baron Huber of Knoxville-Powell, Tenn. The Tide recently gained a late signee for Class 2004 in defensive back Jeffrey Dukes of Oxford-Lafayette County, Miss/Northwest Mississippi CC, Miss.

Touted defensive lineman Louis Ellis of Jackson-Lanier, Miss., has decommitted from Mississippi. He is now considering Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Mississippi and LSU. The Rebels recently pledged receiver J.D. Lawhorn of Memphis-University, Tenn., who had 65 receptions as a junior.

Tennessee has its fifth pledge in Class 2005 receiver/defensive back Ricardo Kemp of Warren, Ark.

Cincinnati has pledged Class 2005 defensive lineman Tyler Clifford of Portsmouth, Ohio.

South Florida has a pledge from defensive back R.J. Anderson of Seffner-Armwood, Fla.

Arizona has a Class 2005 commitment from defensive lineman Anthony Sapa of Moreno Valley, Cal/Riverside CC, Cal., over Arizona State, Oregon State and Nebraska. The Wildcats recently gained defensive back Corey Hall of DeSoto, Tex.

Considered the nation's best pure pocket passer in Class 2005, Mark Sanchez of Mission Viejo, Cal., has committed to the USC Trojans over Ohio State and Texas. Among many others were Notre Dame, Florida, Stanford, Michigan and Oregon. He passed for 2460 yards and 29 touchdowns as a junior.
