Clapp selects Sooners over Wildcats
The Oklahoma Sooners have a commitment from running back Matt Clapp of Phoenix-Paradise Valley, Ariz., over Arizona. The Sooners recently gained defensive lineman Auston English of Canadian, Tex., over Oklahoma State and Missouri.
Defensive back/receiver Antavious Coates of Greenwood, SC., is headed to Georgia over Clemson. Among others were Auburn, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
Alabama has a commitment from offensive lineman Michael Johnson of Pensacola-Pine Forest, Fla. The Tide recently gained defensive back Cory Reamer of Hoover, Ala., over Vanderbilt, Southern Mississippi, Louisville and Georgia Tech.
South Carolina has a verbal from defensive back Damien Wright of Sumter-Crestwood, SC., over Clemson, Vanderbilt and Duke. The Gamecocks recently gained defensive back/quarterback Mychal Belcher of Spartanburg-Dorman, SC.
Mississippi has a commitment from linebacker Rogers Loche of Bastrop, La., over Arkansas, Michigan State, Nebraska, Texas A&M and UCLA.
The Michigan State Spartans have their third commitment in defensive back Otis Wiley of Flint/Carman-Ainsworth, Mich., over Indiana, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan.
Junior running back Brian Calhoun of Oak Creek, Wis., has transferred from Colorado to Wisconsin. He led the Buffs with 810 yards last fall. The Badgers recently gained Class 2005 defensive lineman O'Brien Schofield of North Chicago-Community, Ill., over Iowa State and Central Michigan.
Receiver Kyle Hudson of Mattoon, Ill., has picked Illinois over Bowling Green and Northern Illinois. The Illini recently gained linebacker Brit Miller of Decatur-Eisenhower, Ill.
Cincinnati has a commitment from defensive back/receiver Jared Martin of Green Springs-Clyde, Ohio. The Bearcats signed two Class 2004 prospects for this upcoming season in kicker Kevin Lovell of Hawthorne-Mira Costa, Cal/El Camino CC, Cal., and punter Brian Steel of Payson, Ariz/Elmire-Southside, NY/Scottsdale CC, Ariz.

Offensive lineman Chris Hall of Irving, Tex., who recently decommitted from SMU, has chosen Oklahoma State. The Cowboys recently gained defensive back Gremon Coffman of Duncanville, Tex., over Arkansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
Kansas State pledged defensive back Courtney Herndon of Dallas-Lincoln, Tex. The Wildcats recently gained linebacker Ross Diehl of Castle Rock-Douglas County, Colo.
Texas A&M has its 13th commitment in linebacker Jodie Richardson of Duncanville, Tex., over Arizona, Houston and Washington State.
One of the nation's top quarterbacks, Ryan Perrilloux of Reserve-East St. John, La., has chosen Texas over Florida, Florida State, LSU and Miami-Florida. Perrilloux, who passed for 2404 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior, still expects to take all five official trips. The Longhorns recently gained Top 150 defensive lineman Aaron Lewis of Albuquerque-LaCueva, NM., over Florida State. Among others were Georgia Tech and Texas Tech.
