Former coach upgraded to serious condition

ALBUQUERQUE -- The condition of former New Mexico men's basketball coach Bob King has been upgraded from critical to serious, according to a Veterans Administration Medical Center spokeswoman.

King, who turned the Lobos' program into a national power in the '60s, had been listed in critical for some two weeks after taking a fall in his Albuquerque home.

King, 81, went to the hospital after the fall and doctors discovered that he had dislocated his shoulder. He developed a fever and ...
