Butler assistant Stevens takes over for Lickliter

INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler hired assistant coach Brad Stevens on Wednesday, two days after Todd Lickliter left to take the job at Iowa.

Butler scheduled a news conference for 1 p.m. Thursday to introduce Stevens, 30, as its new coach.

"He's a familiar face to the program," Butler athletic director Barry Collier said in a statement.

Stevens was an assistant for six years at Butler under Lickliter and predecessor Thad Matta, now the coach at NCAA runner-up Ohio State. During that time, ...
