Cal sanctions men's basketball program
California imposed sanctions on individuals employed by its men's basketball program for NCAA rules violations the athletic department discovered in 2008.
The violations related to the frequency and number of phone calls made by coaches to recruits.
The department said in a statement that it "quickly" self-reported the findings to the NCAA and the Pac-10.
