Releford leads No. 6 Kansas past American, 89-57

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- American University coach Jeff Jones picked the wrong strategy on the wrong night.

His goal was to shut down 7-foot center Jeff Withey and make the guards shoot the ball.

It worked. For about 5 minutes. But the Eagles lost 89-57 as No. 6 Kansas unleashed a string of 3-pointers as well as dunks.
