Shaka Smart's VCU squad has led Division I in steals per game in three of the last four seasons. Texas on the other hand, ranked 342nd out of 345 D-I schools in steals per game in 2014-15. The Longhorns reportedly are focusing on Smart for their coaching vacancy.

Texas looking to get Smart

Texas is focusing on VCU coach Shaka Smart to fill its vacant position, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman and a HornsDigest report. Sources say that Smart has significant interest in the job. In six seasons as the Rams coach, Smart made the NCAA tournament five times.
