Will lose when ...
They act their age. The bulk of the Terps' rotation is sophomores and freshmen, so consistency has been a problem.

This young team seems best suited for deep NCAA tourney runs in 2005 and 2006 but won't be awed after facing 12 ranked teams during the regular season.

TO THIS POINT ACC champion How They Got Here: Fear the Turtle! Talk about making a statement on Selection Sunday, the Terps ended Duke's ACC run of championships by beating the Blue Devils in overtime. Not bad for a team on the bubble just a couple weeks ago. But after winning at NC State and beating Virginia just to get to 7-9 in the ACC, the Terps grew up in a hurry -- beating Wake Forest, NC State and Duke in the tournament. There is no reason to think Maryland won't live up to a seed that says Sweet 16 team. Ain't youth a wonderful thing?
PLAYER TO WATCH
John Gilchrist | G | Sophomore
Solid play in the backcourt is essential to a successful tourney run, and Maryland will look for that from John Gilchrist. The sophomore, known for his tough, physical play, runs the floor well and can both distribute the ball and finish on the break.
