The perimeter shots aren't falling for Chris Hill and Kelvin Torbert.
Famous Last Words
Unlike past years, Michigan State's forte is outside shooting. Mix in the inside scoring of Paul Davis, and MSU's offense is tough to stop. But is the defense stout enough?

TO THIS POINT How They Got Here: At-Large Bid
Not even a brutal nonconference schedule could keep the Spartans from dancing. Loses to the likes of Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Syracuse left Michigan State 5-6 heading into the Big Ten, where it dropped its opener to Wisconsin. But by mid-February, the Spartans had won 10 of 12 conference games to rise to the top of the standings. Another loss to the Badgers at home cost MSU the regular season title. And the next win over an RPI top-25 team will be its first. The Spartans finished winless in eight games against teams in the RPI top 25 and earned just a single win against a top-50 team.
PLAYER TO WATCH Paul Davis | C | Sophomore
A first-team all-Big Ten player, Paul Davis leads the Spartans in scoring and rebounding. The big man scored in double figures in 22 of Michigan State's first 27 games and recorded three double-doubles. Davis is effective facing the basket or with his back to the bucket.
