REGULAR SEASON STATISTICS

Will lose when ...
Someone forces Xavier's stellar backcourt of Chalmers and Sato into a sub-par shooting night.

Famous Last Words
This is one of the hottest teams in the country right now. Spend too much manpower trying to stop the guards, and burly Anthony Myles can hurt you inside.

How They Got Here: Atlantic 10 champion
Is anyone in America playing any better right now than the Musketeers?

It suddenly appears as if Xavier's Atlantic 10 tournament blowout of Saint Joseph's was a harbinger of even greater things to come. In the Orlando sub-regional, the X-men built on their A-10 tourney title by cruising past a Louisville team that was just 4-6 in its last 10 games. The Musketeers were even better in round two, dominating SEC regular season champion Mississippi State in a 89-74 verdict that was never close.

Senior guards Lionel Chalmers and Romain Sato, who manhandled the more heralded pair of Jameer Nelson and Delonte West in the 87-67 wipeout of Saint Joseph's, continued their stellar play in Orlando. Chalmers was especially deadly, shooting and penetrating nearly at will against a Mississippi State team that looked like it had never faced a quality point guard before.

At this level, Xavier can absolutely play with Texas in the Sweet 16. Depth may be an issue against the beefy Longhorns, but the Xavier guards are better. The only real question is this: How did the Musketeers ever lose twice to Duquesne?

PLAYER TO WATCH
Romain Sato | G | Senior
A year ago, Sato played a complimentary role to David West. And while he didn't step right into the starring role, he had his moments this season -- none finer than in Xavier's upset of St. Joe's when he scored 24 points. A big guard, Sato likes to go end-to-end and get out in transition as well as shoot over smaller guards from distance or in the paint, where he elevates over traffic.
