TO THIS POINT At-Large Bid How They Got Here: A No. 1 seed slipped through the Bulldogs' hands in a SEC quarterfinal loss to Vanderbilt ... in overtime, no less. But what MSU accomplished as a No. 2 seed makes it very dangerous the next few weeks. No team was better on the road than the Bulldogs, who went 13-0 away from Starkville. It lost to Kentucky on a buzzer-beater and avenged a stunning loss at home to Alabama a week later in Tuscaloosa. Aside from its SEC success, the Bulldogs also beat NCAA teams UAB and Xavier during an 11-0 nonconference. PLAYER TO WATCH Lawrence Roberts | F | Junior
Sure, you figured the transfer from Baylor would make an impact, but his play elevated the Bulldogs to a whole new level. The SEC Player of the Year has dominated in the paint this season, averaging 10.4 rebounds and 17 points. The Bulldogs would be wise to ride his wide shoulders in the tourney.
