How They Got Here: The Salukis did all the selection committee could ask of a mid-major conference champion who didn't win its conference tournament. SIU won its first 17 MVC games before losing at Northern Iowa to end the regular season. It also challenged itself the best it could in the nonconference against eventual NCAA teams -- losing at Murray State and to Charlotte. Losing in the MVC semifinals to SMS may have cost the Salukis a better seed, but wasn't going to keep 'em from dancing once again.

Darren Brooks | G | Junior
The college hoops landscape is crowded with multi-talented players, but Darren Brooks borders on the ridiculous. The junior leads the Salukis in scoring, minutes, rebounding, assists, steals and blocks. Blessed with quickness and great leaping ability, Brooks can slash to the bucket and finish, find open teammates and has a great shooting touch. Not bad, huh?
