Islanders coach says Wisconsin will fall to UNLV
CHICAGO -- As predictions go, this one doesn't quite rank with Joe Namath guaranteeing a Super Bowl victory.
But after Wisconsin eliminated his team in the first round of the Midwest Regional on Friday, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi coach Ronnie Arrow was adamant: The second-seeded Badgers will lose to UNLV.
"I think Vegas will win the game," Arrow said after Wisconsin beat his team 76-63.
Arrow's declaration was news to Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan, who dismissed it in his own unique way Saturday.
"Ron said to me that he thought he and I were going out for a beer last night after the game," Ryan said. "I said Ron, 'I can't.' Why, what did he say in here?"
That UNLV will beat Wisconsin.
"Yeah, and ... ?" Ryan said, laughing. "What, you think he's the only person?"
The Badgers fell behind by 18 in the first half before making their move. Although Ryan shrugged off Arrow's prediction, one thing bothered him.
"Ronnie's been around, man, he knows," Ryan said. "And that scares me because he does know."
