Minnesota: James Ware was hired Tuesday as director of men's basketball operations, replacing J.B. Bickerstaff.

Ware has served as the program coordinator for the work study program at the university since January 2001. Ware was a two-year starter at Texas Tech, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention in 2000.

Bickerstaff left to become the Minnesota Timberwolves' radio analyst.

Wyoming: Former Wyoming standout Queint Higgins has pleaded not guilty to domestic violence and battery charges involving his wife.

Higgins, 32, is accused of punching his wife, Jenny, in the stomach during an argument Aug. 31. He faces up to six months in jail and $750 in fines if convicted.

Higgins turned himself in Sept. 15 and pleaded not guilty the next day.

He played basketball for Wyoming from 1989-94 and now is the coach at Laramie County Community College.
