DePaul: Freshman forward Wesley Green will undergo season-ending surgery, the school announced Wednesday.
The 6-9, 265-pound Green was the runner-up for "Mr. Basketball" honors in Florida last season after averaging 23 points, 12 rebounds and five assists as a senior.
"This is a very unfortunate situation for Wesley," DePaul coach Dave Leitao said. "We will provide Wesley with the opportunity to rehabilitate his shoulder with our medical and strength and conditioning staffs after the surgery is completed so he can prepare to be in top physical condition when the 2004-05 season begins."
Coming off a 16-13 campaign, DePaul opens the season on November 21 against Loyola-Illinois.
