NEW YORK -- St. John's senior guard Willie Shaw, suspended Nov. 26 being arrested on a charge of marijuana possession, was dismissed from the team Tuesday.
"All I'm saying is that he violated team rules," coach Mike Jarvis said Tuesday night before the Red Storm's home game against St. Francis of New York.
Shaw was charged with fifth-degree possession of marijuana, according to a police department spokeswoman in Queens.
Shaw, who played in two games this season, averaged 9.5 points in 90 career games for St. John's. He had a career-high 28 points against Hofstra as a freshman in 2000-01.
He also was suspended for four games at the end of his sophomore season after testing positive for marijuana.
